My GMC Diesel Dually doesn't have a lifetime warranty, and it's still the best truck made.

(I can't help myself sometimes.............) LOL

Lots of things USED to have lifetime warranties. I asked in the first response to this, what is the alternative? If you shy away from PI because they changed their warranty somewhat (still says lifetime it seems, to me), what would you buy instead? Nothing? Why, out of spite?

I checked there website and it seems the same lifetime warranty and made in USA. I have been to the office and they seem like great people to me. The last time was when hurricane Matthews came by, the unit was fixed and I got a more water resistant unit. I like my portable unit, I try to keep the unit from walking off but no way I can stop a thief. Well I can I have good insurance

Nobody on here ever reported knowing the 2nd cousin of anyone who has had a portable unit stolen.

For the record, the warranty HAS changed. An old one has been posted here:
http://www.forestriverforums.com/for...ml#post1626593

First, they now require it be installed by an RV dealer. That's a change.

Second, they have added lightning as one of the Acts of God now not covered. I'd think that surge protection might be real necessary in a lightening storm, but that's just me.

No worries my trailer had it installed prior to the change over of companies.
under the old terms of warranty that application would have been valid. going forward consumers will have to be RV dealership installed. cant see them backdating that requirement for install to when they did not own the company.

2. would lightening not be a naturally occurring item such as a storm?
interestingly enough on Amazon the item lists as having the following for a warranty.

Hardwired Surge Protector - High low voltage protection time delay for air conditioning compressor, 3 mode surge protection, surge indicator. Reverse polarity protection, open neutral protection, open ground protection AC frequency protection. Accidental 220V protection remote information panel, bypass switch, modular design. Microprocessor controlled 5 inch width x 9 inch length x 3 inch height. Three year warranty.

What has happened to PI is lawyers have got involved, what I have read is a cover your butt kind of thing. Same way with the coffee at McDonald's, caution coffee is hot, if the coffee was cold it would go back

LOL. One of my favorite sarcastic jokes...

Q. What do you call 2000 lawyers laying at the bottom of the Atlantic Trench?

A. A good start...

When I asked the dealer about install of a HW50c in my new rig, the lead tech said he had no idea where to put it because they had NEVER installed a PI unit at that dealership.
Are the techs going to be trained by PI to authorize them to do the installs rather than an electrician who is certified?
My dealers lack of competence assured me of my decision to install it myself.

I suspect that's the reasoning that many, many of us on this forum are experiencing.

I don't let hacks touch my stuff, although I DID let someone deliver a new refrigerator this past week. I did NOT let him hook it up, though.

Don't need any water leaks in places they aren't immediately visible.

Mr. Cherry, We have documented the warranty in more detail than before. If you are the original owner you still have a lifetime warranty. We are requiring proof of purchase, which is typical for expensive devices.

I have had two surge protectors from Progressive Ind . The first one was a EMC-PT30 C for my trailer . It was defective and I was sent a new one with no problem . Now I have a EMC-PT 50 C for our 5th wheel which went defective over the weekend . I filled out the warranty but it was denied . They have been bought out by a lareger company and changed the lifetime warranty .i will think twice before using their product again .

Looks like a lawyer posed a what if question during some meeting and everyone freaked. More detail to CYA

Most of the campers I meet on the road have no idea what the unit is or what it does. I have a water pressure regulator on the Cedar Creek that I install on the water spigot, low and behold someone told me it wasn't needed as Cedar Creek pressures the water lines at 100lbs, I still use it. I use the PI every where I camp at, the only place it's not plugged in at is on my Honda's

Based on my understanding, you still have a lifetime warranty until you actually use the warranty. Then, no more warranty.
