Newbie question on Etiquette, AC, FW/CW

We are taking our first big trip in our Grey Wolf and I have some questions.

Question #1 AC = Are the AC units suppose to drip water especially in humid climates?

Question #2 FW/CW = I have a suspicion that when hooked to city water that the FW tank has been filling up. Is this normal? I have not researched this question, but will, it just gets me to question #3.

Question #3 Etiquette in an RV Park. As in question #2, I think the city water filled up my FW tank and caused it to spill over. Sooooo what do you do if you see this happening to your neighbor (who probably just saw your husband rinsing you dog off). Do you:

a. Knock on your neighbor door and let them know there is a potential problem or

b. Turn off their water and go back into your RV?

I know my answer would be A. I got back from the store and opened the grey tank, came in to wash my hands and no cold water. Husband tells me he saw the neighbor looking under our RV and then went back into his RV. He did not think to ask him what he was looking at and had no idea he turned off the water.

As far as the AC it's normal if running off roof. AS far as city water filling FWT not good. Later RJD

If you CW is filling your FW tank, that means the check valve in the FW pump is not fully closing. Try turning off CW and running the FW pump a few minutes. This usually clears out anything in the valve and allows it to reseat. If that doesn't work, you'll need a new valve/pump.

If neighbor saw FW tank overflowing and turned off your water, that's good, BUT he should have told you or left you a note if you weren't home.

#1 yes all ac units make condensation especially in humid climates.
#2 check the winterize valve if you have one, if it didn't swich over completely or if the little bowl (probable check valve inside ) on the side of the water pump is loose like mine was last weekend, it will leak water in basement and also allow water to back feed to the fresh water tank.

#3 if you ever see water comming out of my camper other than the normal ac condensation off the roof.....please, please turn my water off, and please let me know you did and why when i get back.

X2 with MillerTime. ALL AC units drip the condensation caused in the cooling process. If they aren't dripping, they aren't cooling.
#2. I agree that your check valve in the water pump is sticking. Turn off your city water and use the pump to use FWT water. Never leave your pump on while using CW. Also, check to make sure the hot and cold knobs in your outside shower are turned off tightly. City water pressure can get by there to your FWT.
#3 I would definitely want anyone that notices there is a problem with my unit while I'm not there, to correct it, but leave a note at the door to let them know of the problem AND THE ACTION they took.
#4. We always turn the water off at the spigot when we leave the unit for any length of time.

For #3, if you were gone - did you take the only vehicle from the campsite? If no cars/trucks at a site, it's usually a safe bet that no one is home.

Agreed. Thinking charitably, perhaps the guy was going to come over later when he saw the owner and let him know what happened. It's hard to believe he would turn the water off and actually decide not to tell anyone why.

Knock on the door first, no answer. Turn the water off for sure & if you are leaving, leave a note on the door as to why you shut off the water. 9 out of 10 times it will be appreciated & maybe a beer or 2 & a new friend. Sue & I helped a couple out in Calgary in 2001 & have been friends ever since.

x'2 this is very good on how it works, and is a common problem, can also happen it your city water is hooked up and you turn the pump on, the city pressure will keep your pump valve open....

I am a firm believer in turning off water when leaving, it's not a boat that will sink (don't ask how I know), but a lot of bad can happen. Aldo good to put in awning for same reason, bad things happen when you aren't around.

Always leave a note if you do ANYTHING to some ones unit.

Agree on everything he said! ALWAYS shut off water when you leave the RV, a burst hose or connection (it's just plastic tubing) can do wonders for your cabinets and flooring!

Thanks everyone for the valuable input. We have been shutting the water off when we leave. We are staying in the desert right now and water is a precious commodity. Had no problem with that, just have touched the nasty valve and no water to wash with until I figured out the problem. Husband did not think anything of the guy looking under our trailer. Being new, we have been looking under other peoples just to see what they do and how they do it. We have also been keeping an eye on the freshwater to see if it is refilling. Took my first shower using up the FW and it was wonderful. No problem with pressure at all. Calling the dealer when we get back.
