We would definitely added at least a week or two before the end of the year. We wanted to head to Florida (1200 miles RT) but at nearly $4/gal that ain't gonna to happen...

Due to cardiac surgery for me last December and rotator cuff surgery for DW in April, followed by a BIG family reunion over Labor Day, we only got six days this year. Previous years it has been in the 20 to 30 range.

We hope to be out there a lot more next season, gas prices permitting.

Being a bit analytical (DW calls it anal) I track my out of pocket costs when we camp. Last winter we spent 61 days in Florida. We travelled 2400 miles and stayed in 10 different campgrounds (no Wal-Mart or dry camping). Out of pocket costs = $65.54 per night.

I compare that to the extensive auto trips we have taken to the West Coast, Alaska and Canadian Rockies where we must eat in restaurants and stay in motels. I found that I must budget $200 per day for those trips.

I don't include the depreciation on the Motorhome in camping costs just as I didn't include the same on the minivan when I took those long $200/day auto trips.

Hoping to spend 90 days in FL this winter.

We are new to camping so I think 72 or more will be our average. I'm retired and DH is self employed so he can work from the trailer.Eventually we will become full timers. Life is Good!
