Nights Camping Poll

Everyone has high hopes for spending weeks at a time camping.
The reality many times is far less than we would like.

It would be most informative to plot the years you have owned the camper vs the number of nights camped to get some idea of actual cost per night camped.

Can't do that within the confines of the poll software here on the forum, but how about an average per year based on your total ownership of your camper.

That should even out the first year "near every weekend it did not rain" to the most recent "it has been a tough summer" one. Try not to guess so folks can actually see "real results."

Let's see where this goes.

We fall between the 90 days and less and 180 or full time.

Less than 21 days a year. It would be a lot more, but work seems to get in the way.

Remember it is an average of all years camping; not last year.

See my tag line and the average is 56.5 days

We got in 16 nights since the 5er came in july 24th. May get a couple more in yet. Would have more but wife and kids schedules make it hard. Next year there should be more than double that!
Can't wait till next summer!!!!!

Holy Crap, this site has turned into a (Polling Place) how do we find time to (Camp)? Cost justification per days used would be a (Bad) investment! Oh yea we used the trailer 100 days of travel down the road this year,CRS on past years! Youroo!!

Thirty five days so far this year. Mostly 3 day weekends as I work for Uncle Sam. We hope to squeeze in three more this month and maybe 7 more in December. It's hard to assign a dollar amount to all that time spent with my wife and kids. It truly is priceless.

We hit 45 this year and had 29 last year. I hope next year I can hit these numbers.

I totally agree. I am a "trend" guy and like graphs. I have also found that many people have a "wishful thinking" view of costs involved, though.

Talk to any boater...

Been keeping record over the last 5 years. Here are my yearly average.

Nights Camped Yearly: 21
Miles Traveled Yearly: 3812

ostly weekend trips to the beach and our 10 day vacation.
To us it's not anout the money per say, It's about the good times and GREAT friends we camp with or meet.
We may get 1 more weekend trip before all the holidays start.

This topic has been tossed around a bit and after weighing the pros & cons it was decided to keep it as is. Not saying this can't or won't change down the road.

We picked up our Popup from the dealer the first week of August, and managed to squeeze in 18 nights since then till this weekend, when I winterized it since most campgrounds around here have closed up for winter and the kids were getting a bit chilled. Hope to make some more memories and longer trips next year!

I average 14 days a year. That's one 5 day trip sprinkled in with several 2 and three day weekends throughout the summer.

If we didn't have the camper we would only be able to afford one trip a year. That's figuring in hotel (2 rooms) and restaurant cost.

I know I have a camper payment every month but I think of it like a camping time share payment.

I've been camping for 6 years now and would never go back to the hotel way of vacationing. Although the average doesn't seem like a lot it's many more nights I get to spend with the family on vacation vs going the hotel route.
