No Bath House

A campground we have been to over the past 5 years has decided to close all their bathhouses. I was just wondering if that would be a deal breaker for anyone. We personally decided to cancel our reservation there and move to a state campground that is close. Two main reasons for our decision. First when we stay in this area we usually have guest stop by for day trips and sometimes stay the night. I have found over the years guests seem to not want to use the bathroom in the TT and would rather go the bathhouse. Second, after reading reasons for many others to cancel I feel for them. One has a disabled father who can not use the trailer bathroom. Another has 4 children and for all to get through a shower and whatever could take half the day in the camper. There are many others who just need the bathhouse facilities. The reason given to me for the closure was "abuse" of the bathhouses. I get the frustration with cleaning up after those who don't care, but that seems to be an expected head ache when owning any public business. Again, just wondering the thoughts of those who read.

Is it correct to assume that all sites at this campground have sewer?

As you have noted, it depends on everyone's personal situation. In our case, we wouldn't cancel a reservation but we would be disgusted with the thoughtless actions of people who flunked out of social skills school.

If there were full hookups, and we really liked the place, then I wouldn't cancel. However, if it was one of those take it or leave it places, I'd probably go somewhere else.

Like Dan, I despise people who have no care or respect for themselves or others, and ruin things for the rest of us.

Unless they also reduced their rate very significantly, at least 50%, for this reduction in basic features they would lose my business. Somehow I doubt that will happen....

No, I don't believe they all have sewer. I do believe all have water and electric.

We never use the bath houses so it wouldn't matter for us but you bring up good points if you have a handicap and can not use the RV facilities.
Having no bathhouse & sites with no sewer shows that they don't want tent campers either which is also fine and more preferable for us based on our experiences being next to tent folks.
So where is this place?

Then it would be a deal killer for me. I once stayed in a campground in Stone Mt. Georgia that was a converted mobile home park. We knew up front that bath houses were not available but it was no problem since all sites had FHU. And, being a converted MH park, the sites were larger...bonus...

For me, this isn't a reason to cancel nor even expect a reduced fee.

For the cases that you highlighted, I can understand the hassle/problem for them.

And, agreed- while I don't use bathhouses, it frustrates me that people are pigs.

For me, it would be a deal breaker as I prefer to "drop the browns off at the super bowl" on a normal toilet.

If we were in our Apache it would be a deal breaker. But with the tt and a bathroom inside no problem ( having a bathroom was one the two reasons we upgraded to the tt)
But then again just about any time we camp from September to may we don’t expect a bath house

I wouldn't cancel, as I never use those facilities. I do notice that many do use these facilities though. I bought a trailer so I wouldn't have to.

As long they allow people to dump grey water all over the camp I don't see a problem.

That was one of our thoughts as well. We think this will effect the overall "sanitation" in the CG. Might just find "gifts" others have left behind.

I am in this camp as we rarely use campground facilities. But for the OP I understand his frustration.

Every campground we go to must have a shower/bath house....

Need the room to spread out and have a real shower when I want one...

This would be a deal breaker for me. I'm 6'4" and 300lbs, I don't fit in my travel trailers shower. I can barely poop in there. I prefer to use the shower house.

Seems lazy of the campground. Its their responsibility to keep them clean and fixed up. If they have a problem with vandalism, they need to fix the problem. They'll need to keep a closer eye on them and kick out vandals.

Without full hook up a greatly reduced price would need to be in affect for me to consider unless we were only talking a 2 night stay. Not exactly a good way for a campground to drumb up business and bring people in.

In all the years we have camped and all the many campgrounds we stayed at, we have never been in a campgrounds bathhouse or a swimming pool.
