Also happened to me, they wanted to rebuild a car that the only thing that wasn't bent or broken was the trunk lid. I went around to different collision shops until I found a couple that said the thing was totaled and then took that info to my insurance company. Got a brand new car out of it one year newer. Sometimes you just have to do the foot work yourself.

Oh I tried. All of the estimates I got were $16k-$20k. Insurance co said the value of the car far exceeded the cost to repair. Could have fooled me when I sold it for $16k.

thats because the shop was stroking the adjuster under the table. seen this many a times when the car should have been a total.
