No News on the Stolen TV

It's been alittle over a week now and no news on the stolen truck....Let me give you some background on it.....First it was driven to Sam's Club in Chino, CA without the trailer....It didn't have Onstar...Didn't appear to have been a forced entry (No Broken Glass where TV was parked) Police didn't seem to be that suprised it was stolen...Following day less then 1 mile a way a 2007 Ford F350 Dually was stolen with a 6" lift and 37' Tires So my guess is it wasn't any kids out looking to joy ride these trucks...I've been on the forum long enough not to ask what brand of truck I should buy whether it be a gas or a diesel was just looking for some opnions on something I may have overlooked buying my next TV so sorry that was an honest mistake...One thing I am going to get is LowJack to many horror stories here where I live in Southern CA that Cars and Trucks get stolen on a regular basis hopefully that will help.

we have a 2015 2500hd Chevy 4x4. hubby was looking at the tow rating for the 2500 and the 3500 and believe it or not, the 2500 has a higher tow rating than the 3500hd. with the identical setup. we have a 2016 FR Surveyor 5th wheel and the 2500hd pulls it like it isn't even back there. we love both the camper and the truck

Don't let that ruin your trip rent a Uhaul truck and go anyway. Sorry to hear those people took your truck. Hope everything turns out ok.

If they have the same engine & tranny the GCVW will likely be the same... Therefore the heavier springs on the 3500 mean you lose a little tow capacity (since the truck is heavier) to maintain the same GCVW. However, the added springs typically handle an extra 1,000+ payload so you can actually handle the pin weight of a 5er that matches your tow rating...

There is not so much as one component of the Duramax diesel engine that is part of any gas engine built. With 395hp and 765 ft lbs of torque straight out of the box, you should be able to pull anything, assuming you are 4x4.
Do any Dodge owners know who FCA is and how many buy-backs and recalls are being sent out.

REALLY? Anyone who was at the FROG rally will tell you that at least 90%of the haulers are running dodges. I have 2 ram 3500's. An 04 with 1052088 and an 07 with 1751000 miles. Yes, both have over a million miles on them. My total major repairs between the two has been 3 transmissions, 2 clutches, 1 transfer case and 1 turbo. I have not touched an injector or differential. I know one couple that have over 1 million on a duramax. Original motor and tranny, but 2 transfer cases and on their 4th set of injectors at $4000 a pop. I don't know of any fords with a million on them but I'm sure there are some out there.
They are ALL good and and whatever brand you like is great, but don't go talking trash when you don't really know what your talking about. Dodge trannies are made by Mercedes.

So here's my warning: There are (at least) 4 can-of-worms subjects on this forum:

1. Gas vs Diesel
2. Ford vs Chevy vs Dodge (vs Toyota, et al)
3. Bike racks on TT's
4. Air vs nitrogen in tires

5. Tires
6. Am I over weight?

And more

I stand corrected and apologize. When I had problems with my 68re I wanted to upgrade and the dealership told me that the new automatics were made by Mercedes and the 68re was a better transmission. After your post I checked and you are right. But it sounds like the aisin trannys are working pretty well. One shouldn't confuse the quality between Japanese and Chinese products. Once again I apologize for being wrong.

I have a 2013 3500 HD SRW and love it. No worries about weight. They are harder to find and worth the wait and about same cost as 2500.

I had a TT stolen a few years back, it was less than a year old. I really hate theives.

I'd be really posses though if someone stole my TV. Being that we have 6 kids, it's hard to find a TV that seats 8 and can tow 10k. I love my Excursion.

no apologies needed were only human after all. I also wish I could find a way to put a later model tranny into my Ford 7.3 but all I can do is buy a rebuilt from a company that beefs them up but for now I'll just wait till it gives up.

My advice is to find your new TV now, go camping, and worry about the settlement later. If they find the old one, get rid of it and take the loss and move on.

I have to agree here. I had an Infiniti years ago that was stolen. They recovered it, a couple of punks were using it as a get-a-way car. I tried to get insurance to total it, they ended up reprinting the entire car, all new interior and 4 new wheels and tires. Total repair cost was upwards of $20k. Car was never the same after. I traded it in 6 months later and took a bath. It was worth it to get out of the car.

I hope if it ever happens again that they destroy it, I don't want the headache.
