[QUOTE=toslow;969719]the problem i see with ford and chevy, is they are gas engines converted to diesel and won't stand the compression for long[/QUOTE
Wrong you are bucko! Ford's 6.7 powerstroke was designed to be a diesel engine period. As far as I know the same goes for Chevy. Ford's only bad diesel engine was the 6.0 which forced Ford to make their own, Navistar was the supplier for Ford and they got into a lawsuit over faulty engines and that's the reason Ford came out with it's own and it was never ever designed for a gas engine.

I have to laugh at the hardcore diesel chatter on here. If you truly want to know what each brand can handle, just check their stats.
Here's an example:
Chevy Silverado HD and it's cousin GMC tow ratings: 14,800 to 23,200 lbs.
Ford Super Duty: 16,100 to 31,200 lbs.
Ram HD: 13,940 to 31,210 lbs.
There ya go!

My only regret is I wasn't the one who started this thread!! I love a good Ford Chev. Dodge debate!!
Not sure I've learned much but it breaks up the day.

No Camping For Us...Thanks Thieves
I drove Chev till 2008. Went to pick up the new one I ordered. The new style was so butt ugly I went and ordered a ford. So 2008 ford 2011 ford. Now 2014 ford.
92,000 mile on the 08--96,000 mile on the 2011-- now 39,000 mile on the 2014. Not one of them in the shop for anything other than normal maintenance or a recall. ?? Maybe you might want to reconsider??

I believe bob he did not ask what truck he should buy maybe you should read the posts.
"I've been on the forum long enough not to ask what brand of truck I should buy whether it be a gas or a diesel was just looking for some opnions on something I may have overlooked "

I've learned that a lot of people simply read the first few posts and/or the last few posts of a thread before replying. That particular post was in the middle.

What one need to do is simple read a post as to what the OP intended to say, should of said, and could of said--- Thats the way most all of us read them and then we reply in like manor.
So would of , could of , should of and then the actual OP question!!
But it all comes back to the same conclusion. Ford rules.
Did they find your truck yet EJS OP?
