No LP

I have a 2004 Forest River, Lexington Grand Touring Series Motorhome.
Tonight, I was fixing dinner, When I went to turn the left burner off, it would not turn off!
No matter what I tried I couldn’t get it to turn off. As a result I broke it, it was lit (on) and no way to turn it off!
I took off the top cover of the stove, No GAS SHUT OFF!
I took off the trim for the microwave to look in back, No GAS SHUT OFF!
I pulled out the drawer under the micro, No GAS SHUT OFF!
I crawled under the RV, No GAS SHUT OFF!
The only way to shut off the gas for the stove was to shut off the LP at the tank!!
Now I have NO, LP for the heater or the refrigerator, (my frig only runs on LP or 120Vac shore power)
I’ll have the frig when we are parked with shore power, but NO HEAT! (it is 36 degrees here at night)
My deal is; what company (design Engineer) doesn’t put in an “Emergency Shut-off for the gas!?
This makes me wonder, what other things they didn’t know how to design!!
I went to Lowe’s and purchased a plug for the stove so now we can use the frig. & heater.

I guess the close proximity of the bottle to all three of the appliances kind of negates the need for each to have their own shut off? I'm impressed you took everything apart looking for an emergency shut off before going to the valve.

How did the stove knob break? or not work? Were you pushing in and turning?

They stopped putting in shut offs years ago. When standing pilot ignition was abandoned there no need to have a shut off any longer.

I agree, all appliances should have a shutoff valve! The fridge has a shutoff, at least the ones I have seen on the fridge itself.

How about naming any RV manufacturer that equips their RVs with such a feature.
I don't know of any, unless some of those million dollar diesel pushers could.

I tried to turn the nob and couldn't so I pulled the nob off and tried with a pair of pliers that's when it broke! I know I shouldn't have done that but I don't have much patients for that sort of thing. i was an industrial maintenance tech for over 30 years and I expect things to work most of the time. I ordered all new controls and will replace them when I get home, (we're on our way home now, in Texas)

Hmm no shut off valves? My 2011 wildcat has one on all the appliances. wonder when they stopped doing that. I with you all systems should have some sort of shut off valve circuit breaker etc. I know (I have a fifth wheel) not a motorhome but still the same.

There are no shutoff valves on the LP appliances on our 2011 Sunseeker. I bought a plug to use if I ever need to seal off an appliance so I can continue to use the other appliances. I thought I was being overly cautious but tandem54's experience shows a problem could happen.

When you are installing the Shut Off valves pick up one for the Water Heater also! If you have a Outside supply for a Gas Grill with a Quick Disconnect they (Normally) have a Shut off valve installed! Youroo!!
