Norris Dam State Park in Tennessee?

Any opinions or advice? Planning to head there this summer.

Maybe someone has a better idea in the area?

Thanks!

Lake is pretty nice for boating. Campground is decent. It needs some TLC. everything is pretty run down and weeds growing through the gravel, muddy sites, etc.. A lot of the sites are on a grade too. Nothing major, just not good flat areas for hanging out outside. About 1/2 my camping is boondocking so I like anytime I have hook ups but this camp ground was a little disappointing. Of course I have not been in a while so it may be better now.

Stayed there for 1 night a few months back on our way north. Not the best but certainly not the worst. 2 camping areas; suggest the upper one. It is nicer than the lower.

It is an older park and it shows it is some aspects. We haven't stayed there since we upgraded to our latest 5er as the roads and sites aren't really setup for something 40 feet.

Very steep road going up to the campground. Check out Cove Lake SP. Haven't tried it yet but much closer to I-75.

Not sure what type of camping you fancy, however you owe it to yourself to check out Anchor Down RV Resort in Dandridge TN. Not too far from Norris, but goes down as the best campground I've stayed at. Impressive to say the least!

Thanks for the input!

I'll check out the other recommendations, we do need to find a place that has cabins as some in our group don't have RVs.

Our camping group had a fall campout at Panther Creek SP in Morristown, which is on another TVA lake about 45 minutes from there.

We are also having our spring campout there this year and it has undergone a LOT of renovation. Our local guy says that they have widened the spots, leveled many of them and put in new picnic tables, etc. It is very convenient to Cherokee Lake, so fishing abounds.

We had another of our trips to Cove Lake State Park, which was enjoyed, also.
