Its unseasonably warm all over NC--we're in foothills and its to be close to 70. Eastern NC and OBX will have rain all weekend, my weather app is showing 40% Friday, mostly morning for Hatteras. I love OBX in any weather though but I hope for your sake it isn't to point of having to stay inside too much.

UPDATE AND THANKS TO ALL!
As I write this from Camp Hatteras, I am looking out at the dunes from one window and I can hear the waves crashing. Just had a morning thunderstorm to freshen the air. Temp about 70, calm winds. In a word... AWESOME!
We have been here since Monday night, Dec.28 and will be leaving Jan. 1
The weather since we arrived has been all over the place, from windy, to calm, to VERY rainy, to VERY PERFECT!
In the early afternoon we swam in the indoor pool and soaked in the Jacuzzi.
Late afternoon we walked over to the sound side and watched a beautiful sunset, then an hour later to the beach side and watched a beautiful moonrise, reflecting off the calm ocean and looking up to a star-studded inky black sky.
This morning we walked the beach, watched people fishing and running, just as thunder rumbled in the distance. We started back to our rig, and got in the door just as a shower started. Listened to the rain pattering on my roof as I sipped my coffee and surfed the net.
Hmmm. It looks like the sun is peeking out from a perfect blue sky. I guess it's time to go brave the elements!
Thanks for all the wonderful advice.
BTW, we visited the KOA and the Waves CG. This one beats them both, IMHO.

Waves has that huge mountain of a dune with no steps. It's a deal breaker for me. KOA was ramapant with unsupervised kids in golf carts. The only peace I found was Frisco Woods. Been back there a few times. It's pretty awesome in my book. Crabbing in the canal is my favorite activity.

We usually make 2 trips to Camp Hatteras a year. One early spring another early fall. Always a pleasant experience, glad you enjoyed you stay. Was the campground fairly busy?

We were at Camp Hatteras last April, and almost no one else was there. Loved it, but so much wind that our heavy grill blew over. Wind rocked camper every night, and thought the slide topper would be ripped off. Got sand-blasted walking on the beach. Campground folks said it was relatively unusual. Still had good time.
