Just curious, we just purchased a 2016 2109s mini lite that has nitrogen filled tires. Is this suppose to help prevent blowouts?

We were just starting a 3 month trip to the east coast this past Sunday and had gotten as far as Winnemucca, NV, when our first tire blew and damaged the passenger side of the fifth wheel. After putting on the spare we decided to return home for repairs. Had gone about 120 miles towards home when the second tire on the same side blew. We, too, had to wait over four hours in the heat of the Nevada desert for a replacement tire. We didn't have quite as much damage as "dnwiginton", but it was bad enough.

Taking the rig in this Friday for repairs to begin and will definitely replace all of the tires with LT tires (probably Goodyear G614's)

I'm guessing that trailer weight is actually the axle weight on the trailer, and not the total weight. Dry weight on a bone stock 2012 365saq is 11,800. I don't remember from the pictures, but were both blowouts on the same axle? You may want to check for a bent axle or springs.

You said the magic word, Marathon. Replaced a set of 4 two year olds under my Montana when I discovered both wear and bubbles. Replaced them with Michelin XPS Rib. That was about 4 years and 40,000 miles ago. Michelins are doing fine. No significant wear and certainly no bubbles. They cost, but I've never been left beside the road on Michelins.
For what it is worth, in a former life, had a 1998 Cardinal with 3 axles. Had heard about such problems, so carried 2 spares. Blew 3 tires between Jackson MS and Tampa FL. I, fortunately, could limp in on 5 tires and one rim. Replaced all 6. Think they were Generals, but not sure.
I think, regardless of the brand used by the RV manufacturer, they are buying the cheapest available tires and the tire manufacturer is shipping the old stock they couldn't sell.

Marathons used to be made in the US then they sent production to China then brought it back for a year or so then sent it back to China so it is possible that you got China Bombs on your 5th wheel.......I put G614's on our 5th wheel prior to taking a trip to Alaska last Summer. They did not even loose air. I was anticipating having blowouts on the Alaska Hwy so I bought and extra spare and another spare tire carrier for the rv. Did not have a problem with 5th wheel but one day while visiting Medora ND we had a flat on the truck while shopping in town....The truck had LT tires so just having LT tires will not prevent a flat....

Any of you try these Flat Stoppers?

I am thinking of trying these Flat Stoppers to park the trailer on when it is home. They aren't cheap, but maybe they will help with the flat spotting/belt separation that seems to be plaguing us. My Salem is in the shop now for wheel well repair, my brother just ripped off the side of his trailer when he had 2 blowouts at the same time.

So after reading all these forums about blowouts and the damage they do to the slides and shell, why don't the manufacturers build something around the tires/wheelwell areas that will restrict the damage to the blown tires alone? Seems like common sense to me - oh wait, maybe that is my answer!!
