Off to the rescue!!!!!!

Well sitting watching the news last night I get a phone call from a former coworker asking if I was home and could offer a stranded camper some help. Seems their truck broke down and were stranded in a parking lot trying to get their Puma camper to the local state park just minutes from our home.
It felt really good being able to help someone as we have been in this situation and know how it feels, so off I go in our BIG truck and tow them to the state park. They were thrilled to have gotten some help and even more shocked when we refused any offer of cash and said that we were offered help once from someone who also refused anything and said to Just Pay it Forward. We were just glad to help and who knows a new friend and camping person might have been found as we did exchange numbers.

Also told them about FROG and they have never heard about it

It’s always gratifying to be able to help somebody who really needs it. It’s one of the few things in my life that give me joy without costing money, usually. There’s not too many disabled RVs on the side of the road that I haven’t stopped for. I’ve been disabled with an RV on the side of the road a time or two, so I know how it feels, and how an extra hand and moral support make things so much better. I was helped once by a fellow RVer. My daily driver is my tow vehicle and I carry just about every tool I ,or somebody else, may need to take care of the most common problems that can be taken care of without a professional mechanic. I learned very early on that the most useful and oft-used tools are a 1/2” drive impact wrench, a torque wrench and a Trailer-Aid Plus. I don’t know how many tires I’ve helped to change, but it is a lot.

I think most RVers look out for each other, whether they know each other, or not.

Off to the rescue!!!!!!

Always great to be able to help—. Was in McDonald drive up line last week. My bill $11. Picked up my food and cashier said the car in front of me paid my bill ??? I saw the gal in that car go through in the 2nd lane. I did not know her. My wife said people are doing that now ?? So I paid the guy behind me. His bill was $8. I saved $3 I guess. Lol.

That's something that's been happening for years. I've heard some Starbucks drive-thrus get chains of 20 and 30 people at a time all paying for the person behind them.

I'll bet those people were very grateful and will always remember that camping trip, thanks to you. Well done!

We've been trying to continue to 'Pay It Forward' for over 40 years now after someone helped us. I still don't understand how people are amazed that someone will help without wanting to be paid. To us, making someone happy or easing their pain is all the 'payment' that is needed. If they are insistent in paying, we ask that they 'Pay It Forward' when they can and that will be their payment.

My grandfather told me a pat on the back always feels better than a kick in the seat.

I like to Pay It Forward and I hate to admit that at times when I do I feel slighted when I don't even get a simple 'Thank You' back. I know I shouldn't let that bother me at times but it does...

I guess I'm more excited to help someone than they are getting the help..If that makes any sense. Does anyone else ever feel that way ?

I have helped tow people out of stuck situations many times while out boon docking and have never accepted cash. There has been to odd times after I refused the cash that I was offered something else. Like a bit of homemade jerky home smoked fish, moose sausage, a beer. Now those things I person can not refuse.

I have not had the pleasure of towing out someones trailer yet. We got out exploring in our 4 x 4 on abandoned logging and seismic/oilfield exploration roads. That is where we usually find these unfortunate people.

Glad to see others helping strangers out! I have a nice light bar on my truck and have used that countless times in the farm and fleet parking lot to light up someones engine, trailer, wiring mess, etc. If we dont get sketched out by you, we will most likely stop and see if you need help.
