Online reviews, incl. Amazon, are the same as MSM reports, 50% - 80% fake. What else can it be when you write a review, post it and get an e-mail later saying it was rejected because it didn't conform with some company policy.

My 2 ct's.

I review campgrounds and rv parks but rarely review products. IMO no park needs an all 5 star review on all points because I believe there is room for adjustments and improvements.
I try to rate and review parks and campgrounds on infrastructure and ease of entering and exiting of the property.
Now some travelers base reviews on toilets, showers, tv reception, wifi, pools, playgrounds, activities, price, etc. Because it is YOUR review, you are entitled to to do this. But here is what I personally do not care for when reading some bad, awful, or terrible reviews.

1. Blaming or ranting about trains. The railroad, more than likely, had tracks there way before the park was even thought about.

2. Highway noise. Really? Did you not DRIVE to this business or campground in some type of motorized conveyance?

3. Complain or go nuts because the toilets and showers were not up to YOUR standards but you are traveling in a self-contained rig of some type.

4. Whine about park wifi because YOU work from the road and you expect the park and campground owners to provide this to you gratis so you can earn your living.

So to sum up and close this post and my personal rant, read the reviews and decide if a product or rv park/campground is right for you and yours.

Dave

Yup. I start with a quick look at 1 star reviews if that bracket is over 5-10%, looking for common failures. Then it's up to the longer 4 and 5 start reviews where I can learn details. I'd say the 4 starts are often the most interesting and useful.

Being able to search reviews and question answers is a huge improvement.

Added a new backsplash in my kitchen. I needed to move the outlets out which required longer box screws. Went on Amazon to see what was available. Bought a set of electrical screw assortment. Clearly described as 8/32. Didn't do my do diligence and when they arrived, I quickly learned I needed 6/32 sized screws. My Bad. So I went back to the Amazon page where the Electrical screw assortment had received like 90% 5 stars and took a look at the one star reviews. Sure enough there it was. "Don't buy these, you need 6/32 size screws."
Point is: read the one star reviews.

I wish there was a rating system for people. A behavior rating, not a credit rating. People with good ratings get discounts at restaurants, preferred service at sporting events, special camping rights, even helps you on a dating website. People would strive to be nice. Would probably make the world a better place.

Just sayin’

Yelp campground ratings

I love reading the campground reviewers that give one star to a campground I know is good. Usually, they start with something like: this is the first time we camped, or our huge group decided to camp last minute. Then they become irate that the same campground rules that universally apply were enforced. Like, “they made us put out our fire and turn off our generators at 11 pm! How dare they! The campground security was sooo rude!”

I saw one where a lady (40+) that never camped demanded special lighting in her site on July 4th, and wrote a tantrum filled yelp about how rude the staff was to tell her no.

I also like the reviews that give 5 stars because the campground staff allowed them to break all the rules and wreak havoc on the campground during their stay. Oddly, ruining other camper’s trips is worth 5 stars.
