Oxidation on Front Cap 2015 Crusader 325

Greetings Happy Campers,

I recently heard of a known problem of oxidation taking place on the front cap of 2014 and 2015 Crusaders. The next thing I know, it's happening to mine. My beautiful shine is gone.
Before taking delivery of this rig in March of 2015, we had a special supper duper "resistall" wax procedure done at the dealership. Directions say that I must not wax mine for 5 years.

A buddy of mine who has a 2014 and waxes his own rig has the same problem.

Anyone else having this issue and have you had any contact or luck having it addressed by your dealer or Forest River or Prime Time?

Thanks for the info,
Mike

I hope the photo shows up on this post, if not, I was able to upload a pic in photos, I believe through my profile...rookie !!!

Sure it's oxidation? Looks more like disappearing paint to me.

I'm afraid to touch it with anything, just yet to find out. My buddy did buff his with some $55 a quart compound and then waxed it. Says it looked great for a week or so and now its fading away again...

I had this on mine and I sent pictures to the manufacturer explaining the problem and they told me to take it to my dealer and they would repaint it. They repainted the front cap at no charge. I was even out of warranty by about 3 months. Seems there was a promlem with soft paint.

Thanks Ken,
Happy to see you got yours covered.
Mine's about 5 months past warranty but I've yet to hear from the dealer on what they plan to do, if they'll do anything.
I guess that's what needs to be done, repaint over what I believe is gel coat fiberglass.
Mike

Coachman painted the front of our 2014 Chaparral when it did the same thing.Take to your dealer and have him work for you with the factory.
Good luck

There was an extensive thread covering this recently. I personally had my front cap replaced by Prime Time.

Wonder if they would reprint the front cap on our 2005 Cardinal, I've been putting up with fair for a long time. Rear cap was replaced in 2007 due to a collision and it still looks new.

I also had mine repainted under warranty, all be it took 2 1/2 months to get it back.
Mine was a Wild Cat Max, had it back now for 5 months and the new paint job looks great.
Hope you get yours covered because it is expensive to foot the bill.

It isn't paint it's a colored gel coat. Nearly every manufacturer has had a problem with this. You can buff and shine til the cows come home. It won't last. The ONLY real cure is to have it painted.
