Newbie to rv'ing and am wondering about clubs such as Passport America. Any feedback?

I think the key is to figure out how much you would actually use them. We joined PA years ago, for one year, and barely used it. We got a free year with Thousand Trails which we used as much as we could but there are so few TT locations near us that we would not benefit from paying for it. We did do a Good Sam membership that works in conjunction with Camping World.

Sorry, no great revelations although I will enjoy watching for the responses

We have used Passport America for the last two years and have been pleased. It's better if you can camp in "off-season" since many of the parks limit discounts to certain days or times of the year.

Since the cost is less than $50, you only have to camp a few nights to break even.

Depends on how much camping you do and how far you roam. Being retired we are trying to see a lot of the country while we can, plus visit family in the Carolinas so we often stay at a PA campground. For us, it pays for itself several times each year.

here's a general statement about 50% off clubs.

if you only camp on weekends or in the summer, it usually isn't worth getting due to most don't allow the discount during these high usage times.

if you camp off-season or during the week, then it's a good deal.

after all, why would campgrounds offer 50% off, during high season or on weekends? they generally don't need to, cause they get plenty of customers at the regular price.

this is for campgrounds to get at least some customers when things are usually slow for them.
