Pathway X2 Dish - Which Receiver?

I received my new Pathway X2 satellite dish today. The vendor accidentally sent the package that includes the Wally receiver. I have a 211Z from my old dish.

Which one is preferred? It would be great to use the 211Z since it is already registered with Dish pay-as-you-go. But Iíll register the Wally if itís the better unit.

The only differences I know of are the Wally's remote is RF instead of IR (Wally can be hidden from view/behind cabinet doors etc.). Wally is quite small and it also generates less heat. The 211Z and 211K's are fine.

The Wally was a little easier for the initial turn on process for me and I prefer the remote with it. It also allows you to use Netflix if you have internet connection. I also have the Pathway 2.

Didnít know about the Netflix feature, thanks! We usually use the Firestick for Netflix.

You will need both receivers if you want to watch different programs on two different TVs. The Wally is the one that I would use if I were only using one receiver. The Wally is newer and somewhat better but the 211 will still do the job. Good Luck

I use the Firestick on 2nd TV with dish anywhere app, that way I only pay for 1 reciever, but get full programming that I have at home. Only works when you have internet tho. When I dont have internet I run a long HDMI cable to bedroom to watch with the Wally.

I have the 211K with the pathway. Remove it from bedroom and take it with me. Use the OTA feature to help zoom in local stations to monitor news and weather. It has a built in strength meter as well. Not sure if Wally has OTA feature or not. Use sling box feature off receiver that stays at home. Have 1.5 mb uplink works great.

With Wally you need to get the OTA adapter.

We run the Wally on the main line and our 211z on the auxiliary line. It works quite well for us. One thing we find is when programming the Wally need a little more time to show the menu screen and the 211z show the menu right away.
