People setting up next to you when campground is empty
happens to me all the time and im like really all the open sites around and you set up 10 feet from us ! LOL .
we have been doing a lot of dry camping the last few weeks and try to find a nice private area for peace and quite then the next thing you know is someone comes and sets up right next to us even though there are many sites open farther away ? i guess we are just likeable people .
and i have noticed that tent campers are much more noisy then trailer campers and like to stay up all night .

Noticed that too. It is like they extra hard to make sure you can hear them thru the walls of your TT. And the tent area is where most the drunken brawls are too!

Pixel- isn't there some kind of camping ordinance making any kind of speaker not attached to your RV illegal? Lol

LOL... been there! Quite frustrating when the "owners" leave them tied up outside the TT barking for hours while they take off somewhere!

Hondaman- I'm SURE there is and I, for one, would make sure that there would be
an "understanding" between the music owner and myself if things started to get out of
hand! And...if the CG owner didn't react then there is always the local police?
Connie- woof woof...and another woof! I hear you(and them ). Funny tho...was just down at Ft. Monroe in Va. about a month ago on a site which was
pretty quite during the week. On that Friday the local crowd started to come in on their July 4th (uh oh....) reservations. We became circled with 4 fiver's
within one hr. and everyone had big Labs and Police dogs staked outside almost immediately. I saw this and cringed. But, believe it or not, they were the best behaved dogs you ever saw, and quiet! The noisy one became our
1-yr old Doodle (Olivia) who went nuts because we wouldn't let her socialize
with the..."guys". Of all times to forget the bark collar... -Pixelbum

It's the same magnetic field that is on your vehicle parked out near the edge of a parking lot!

I hear you about the noisy neighbors. I'm a little predisposed to quiet times since I live in the country with trees all around. When I go camping I have to adjust my thought process since there will be campers very close.
However the one I have a really hard time with is the guy who brings the leaf blower (gas powered) to clean up his campsite. I can understand doing it one time when you first get there (actually I can't but tolerate it). But every day at nap time?? Why can't people respect the tranquility of the woods and outdoors?

I guess I am a person who likes to meet people on the road. No I don't make a lot of noise stay up late playing music all night. In fact we have made a lot of people who become friends and try to keep in contact. I guess I look at strangers as friends I never met. Up to this point I don't think I have met people that I couldn't get along with.

I love the same type of thing in commercial CGs. They have 50 or so sites, four rigs in the park and they put them all side by side rather than spread out giving a little privacy.

I find spots with no one around. Here we are squatting for the night near the Bay of Fundy
I guess there are times one is stuck for the night with a "difficult" neighbor

Haha. ...I agree 100% never interrupt nap time. My favorite time of the day.

We also live in the peaceful country, so this is one of the reasons we dragged our feet & didn't get into camping sooner. However our camping neighbors have been better than expected. We've actually become friends with some & have planned repeat trips together... And, camping for us is about the destination - going places & seeing stuff farther from home... When we want peace & quiet we will return to our country home...
Ironically the worst neighbors were at a "resort" that was trying to sell us a membership. In exchange for 30 days of free camping, we endured a 2 hour sales pitch - not bad... When they directed us to our site, we were the only ones on the cul-da-sac. However, the gravel (W/E only) site was so un-level that it took both sets of leveling blocks & the back of the site dropped-off so bad I had difficulty using our (new) outdoor kitchen... But all was good because it was peaceful & quiet as the only campers on the loop - until some noisy tenters plopped down their gear right next to us - on the awning side of our rig... They had 15 other sites on the loop to pick, but they chose the one right next to us... What?!
At this moment we understood what they meant by "lifetime membership that can be passed-on for 2 generations..." These irresponsible young adults invested nothing into their stay because their grandparents were members & therefore their stay was free even though the grandparents were not present... Their kids were unruly & the whole bunch talked loudly late into the night & since they were in tents it was difficult to drown-out their noise with our A/C fan on high, etc. FORTUNATELY it rained heavily the 2nd night. About 2am, we heard lots of swearing & yelling as they commanded everyone in their group to pack-up the tents & leave. That racket was actually beautiful music to our ears & by 3 am all I could hear was the gentle sound of rain. We stayed for a few more days (free) to take advantage of free horseback riding, boating, fishing, swimming, etc. but never returned & am glad we passed on the pricey membership...
