LOL! That is another campground Pet Peeve.

One thing my wife and I do when we visit a campground is to walk the campground and write down our rating of each campsite, good, OK, bad. The campsite in the photo below has a bad rating because of the drag marks.

My pet peeve when camping? When I reserve a campsite, I usually do it like 6 months in advance. I look at the images of the campsites, and find one with the nicest ground, and plenty of tree cover.

4 times now (in maybe 7 years of camping) I have gotten to my campsite and found people there either in the process of setting up (twice) or even fully set up (once), or with a lawn chair sitting in the middle of my spot "holding" it. (once) The guy that was fully set up had a spot across the street in full blasting sunlight, with a pretty good slope. Of course, he didn't want to move. He even went as far as to move his reservation tag to my site, and my tag to his site. The park ranger explained the way of life to him. The whole time, his (rather vocal) argument was that he "Got there first".

The two times the people were in the middle of setting up... One was simply mistaken about their site, and the other was someone who was a "walk-in" who thought they could just take whatever site looked best. The chair was interesting. A couple of friends wanted to camp 'butt-to-butt' for some reason, and they placed the chair on my spot to hold it for their friends who were due in later. Turns out they only reserved one spot, and they just thought "First come first serve". Their friends pulled nearly 2 hours just to find out there was no open spots (this campground is ALWAYS full). I was actually at the host buying firewood and I heard the guy argue with the gate attendant about how "his friends have him a spot already", despite him not having a reservation.

Heh, we did this a few years back. We consistently reserved the same site and when we went to reserve like 6 months in advanced, it was booked. We took one of our fallbacks for completely forgot about it. Got to the campground and started setting tents, dining canopy, etc. up in our preferred site when a sheepish younger guy came up and asked if maybe there was some mix-up with reservations. Man we felt dumb! We beat feet to get moved the 3 sites down where our actual reservation was.

I think my pet peeve is having people walk through your campsite as a shortcut to their own site. But...I have to admit that everything else listed here so far would fall into my top 10.

We have only been camping 3 times now with our Rockwood and my peeve has to do with a FUTURE reservation. I booked for late August at KOA Cape May at a full hook up site and received a call yesterday that they need to move me to a water/electric only site because my original location was SOLD. They will comp me the honey wagon and "free wifi". But it bugged me.

The one adjective that nobody has EVER used to describe me is "sheepish". And "younger" went out the window decades ago.
