Now that we are talking about driving habits. How about the ones that will run a stop sign just so they can pull out in front of you.

If they would have stopped, you would have been safely past them by 500 feet or so. Giving them amble space to safely pull onto the road.

Having your license plate number be your cell phone number would go a long way towards solving a lot of pet peeves.

How about driving the speed limit in the passing lane....it rubs me bad when there is 2 cars in each lane and both are doing the exact speed limit.

Is it just me? Seems in the old days, when there were 3 lanes, tractor trailers stayed in the right lane except to pass. Now they seem to sit in the center lane and make everyone go around them.

I like the middle lane too. It saves me from the river of merging a-holes who seem to forget that I have the right of way.

On the Xway, running with traffic, 60-65 mph, and traffic in right lane starts to back up, and back up and...
Everyone starts to change lanes to pass on the left. Finally get up to front, and there is a LOP (little old person) with a death grip on the steering wheel, running at 48 mph.
And then there are the num nuts who speed up to try to beat you out as they enter the Xway via on ramp, and as soon as they cut in front of you, slow down.
Agggggh!!!

The first thing I do after cranking truck is turn on lights, the tow/haul, then exhaust brake. I hate seats belts but I fasten them too

Yeah, but now you're holding up everyone else. I don't mind so much when it's busy and there's an exit every 1/2 mile. But when the exits are 5 miles apart - gimmee a break.

They call it a speed limit because that's as fast as you are supposed to travel. If I am impeding your ability to travel faster than the posted speed and ticking you off in the process, I will smile and wave happily as you pass me with your middle finger raised.

I love the saying "Everyone who drives slower than you is dumb. Everyone who drives faster than you is an idiot."

Did I say ANYTHING about speeding? In Illinois, trucks are supposed to do 60 mph, I can do 65 or 70 mph in my car. So a 60 mph truck in the middle lane is impeding many cars that are doing the speed limit.

Texting, Smoking, Drinking a beer, eating a Big Mac are all distracted driving. We have handsfree laws here that make many of these things Illegal. Including seizing your phone if you are in a accident to check for activity while the accident happened. I saw in the local paper a guy dropped a lit cigarette in his lap and hit another car as he tried to save himself. He was charged and was assessed 6 points.

I once pulled up to a red light. There was a little old lady passing the time by doing needle point behind the wheel.

Once saw a lady plucking her eyebrows and driving. It's amazing what people can do.

I've seen while DRIVING:
Reading, Eating, Texting, putting on makeup. shaving, using a laptop. Doing more than one at the same time (both hands tied up and none on the wheel).

I also had a fatal crash where a mother was killed when she hit a bridge abutment. Her kid was crying behind her... She activated the cruise control and turned around to help / calm the kid... All at 70mph on a highway.. Cruise control is not auto pilot.

We have a texting law that is all but IMPOSSIBLE to enforce due to all the "defenses" one can use.

I was having this conversation with DH the other day. The newer cars these days have the dash lights on all the time. Some because they have day lights that come on automatically. Mine don't, but as soon as you turn the key on the dash lights are on. I was driving as day light was fading and did not even think about turning the lights on. When I was wonder if my headlights were burned out it hit me. That should be banned. Who needs their dash lights on during the day anyway. I come from the era where they came on when lights were turned on.
