Ok guys lets do a survey. Instead of "mine freezes mine didn't," report back with; what the labeling is on your pink stuff says, if it froze, (slushed) and the temperature observed at the time.

There seems to be different grades of the stuff out there and I suspect it might be geographic. This is a good winter to get some data of the pink stuff being sold.

Sound like a good idea?

Oaklawn cancelled their Presidents Day card. That's a big loss for them. Presidents Day usually sees one of their largest crowds and handles of the meet. Live racing is scheduled to open on Thursday. Oaklawn currently does not schedule live racing on Tuesdays or Wednesdays.

I have used RV antifreeze in the toilet tank and bowl and drain traps at my rural property for 20+ years. There is always some water in the toilet and of cousre the traps when I add the antifreeze. I have many times seen it slushy, but never frozen solid. The house is totally unheated and I have never had anything break. Now of course pure automotive antifreeze does freeze at a higher temperature than diluted.

My antifreeze got very slushy at -10F but never froze. Sub zero temps on the way so will be monitoring.

I don't recall the brand name, it was purchased from the local auto zone store. I believe the label stated good to 40 below, it was regular RV antifreeze. Hopefully everything will be alright, I winterized the TT properly by making sure the pink came out of the faucets , then putting some in all the p traps. I will have my fingers crossed till spring, now I am second guessing myself , hoping I did everything rights. We are just having record lows here in eastern Va in the single digits. A lot of the Chesapeake Bay is frozen, most all the rivers have tons of ice in them. COME ON SPRING.

Thank you for posting this topic. Early this winter I noticed slushy antifreeze in the toilet. I have spent most of the winter dreading that I have ruined all the plumbing in my trailer. Maybe I'll be OK.

Haven't checked this year but I totally freaked last year when our pink stuff froze. Ours is rated -50. It got pretty cold here in MI last year (and this year). All was fine.

I set a full gallon jug out last night. It is supposed to get into the negative digits tonight without wind chill. I'll try to post a pic in the morning of the results

Put 4oz Peak -50F RV antifreeze in metal container out last night, This am temp was 1F and the pink stuff has a consistency of thick slush. Certainly would not burst water line, but would not go through pump ot spigot.

Checked this morning when I came home from work. Thermometer says it got down to 0.9° last night. The bottle is not even slushy. I think I will be ok as I blew the lines out in the RV before pumping the antifreeze through.

You can't compare "exposed" pink stuff freeze status, when the container is subjected to moving air across the surface. That produces a "wind chill" factor, which rapidly lowers the temperature of the medium as the ambient temperature drops.

My observatoon; -50 degree burst protection, Peak brand, still in liquid state at -5 F in protected location.

This sure is sounding like a product stated quality issue. Otherwise, why would the same stated -50 burst rated pink stuff, have different states of consistancy (totally liquid vs slushy) when the temperatures are what is being observed.

Just curious, have you noticed any distortion in the shape of the container. I'd be curious to know if expansion occured with the pink stuff freezing solid. Just sayin'
