We just got a Shamrock 21dk Hybrid. It has the plastic kitchen sink that yes,, fooled me into thinking it was stainless in the pics before we brought it>
Sooo, I don't know what it is made out of but I am a little worried about pouring hot water in it or setting a hot pan in it? Will it melt? Why would they put a plastic sink in a RV????
Can't answer the melting question. I've never poured boiling water in our, never put a hot pan in it. wouldn't do either one, just in case.

I'm sure it's because of money (not weight). My first mod (when we get our new SC 226rbds will be to rip out the sink and replace it with stainless steel.
Turn the cold water on in the sink when pouring hot water in it. We do it at home too because of pvc pipes. I've seen some acrylic sinks that were rated for 225°, but still the abs and pvc pipes might not be rated that high.
We never have had any issues but we fight the hot with cold water.
Oh and my rv parts catalog has stainless sinks about $50 cheaper than the acrylic. Maybe the acrylic holds up to more abuse. I know cheap stainless dents easy. Who knows?

The DW used to wash the dishes with straight hot water wearing Playtex Gloves until she burned a hole in the grey tank.

Yep the gray tank probably is the weak link. Just assumed that there would probably be enough water in the tank to not have an issue with it.
