Pleated shades

We have those pleated shades in our 2015 Salem 27rkss. My question is: does anyone else have trouble raising these shades? When we raise these shades they just bunch up instead of going up folding at the pleats. Is there some way to adjust these things or am I just expecting it to be easier than what I am experiencing.

Are you using two hands -- one at each side of the blinds? If you have day/night blinds, are you raising each portion separately or together? You should do it separately.

I use both hands to raise but instead of folding at pleats they buckle. As far as I know we only have one set of shades. There needs to be a way to adjust and I have no clue as to what I need to do to adjust or exactly what I am looking for as the final adjustment

Look at the bottom of each side where the string attaches to a small round "adjustable disk". It probably has a Phillips head screw in the center. If you loosen that screw and unwind the disk about a quarter turn, it will take tension off the shades. Just don't let it unwrap all the way or you will be rewinding it and that isn't fun. Loosen it only a little at a time and don't forget to tighten the screw back down when you finish the adjustment.

pleated shades

I found that I had to wrap the pull strings around the lower plastic pulley/knob an extra round to get the proper tension, just play around with the adjusters and u will get the right {feel} on each one. Also I had to remove the mount screws holding the adjusters and mount brackets to the wall, they pulled out of the thin wall paneling, so I took all of them out and added plastic hollow wall fasteners instead of just screwing into panels. good luck

Thanks. I will work with them some more next time we go out. I am sure that the tension is the problem and now I know how to adjust that tension.

That is about my only bitch with our Hemi--the pleated shades. I like OC's idea of venetian blinds.
