Portable Ice Machine
Looking at getting one of these for Christmas to use when we are RVing in the summer.. seems we are ALWAYS leaving the campsite for ice... anyway... does anyone use a portable ice machine... do you love it. why did you choose the one you have?
there are so many out there.. but none of them seem to stand out of the crowd!
suggestions are welcome!

We boiught one at Target on sale for $109 and have been very happy with it. We make ice and put it in zip lock bags in the freezer, usually get by with making ice about every other day.

We got one of these last year, and it works as advertised. We never run out of ice. We keep it in one of the cargo bays, plugged in so we don't have to go in and out of the RV when we patio for the afternoon.

We use an Emerson brand from Target.
Usually, we will keep it on a small folding table under the awning, unless it is extremely hot, then it goes into the storage basement to stay out of the sun.
It works well, and we are on the 5th year using it.

My mistake in our brand of ice maker. We too have the Emerson model identified by others. It looks amazingly similar to the one sold at CW, and I know we looked at their ice machines at one time. Actually..when you really look at both of them, it wouldn't surprise me if they were made by the same manufacturer.
As far as filling it up between making ice........you can top it up in the baggage compartment using a hose, or just lift it out from time to time and top it up there. Keeping it out of the direct sun is key to having it perform well. As far as how often..........how thirsty are you?

Been using a Sunpentown portable ice maker for three years. We keep ours in doors due to the Texas heat. There are cheaper units, they are all about the same. Portable ice maker is a must for the RV.

Don't have one, but from a video on youtube, you lift a basket and pour the water into the bottom, reinsert the basket, close the cover and punch the button for whatever type of ice you want, small, medium or large.
