Portable waste tank, getting in the truck

So, we have 14 days scheduled for Elkmont GSNP, late May, early June. Elkmont does not have a dump station, it is 7 miles away at the visitor center. Obviously I would not trailer the tote tank that far, but will I am sure have to drain the tanks some, any ideas on how to get a full 30 gal tank into the back of a truck?

Don't fill it........Or, buy a waste valve cap that a garden hose fitting on it, and drain 5 gals into different container, then pour that into honey wagon...

Best option.

One could check and see if there is a local company that does pump outs.

I wonder if one of the hitch carriers could work? I've seen them with little ramps built in that would allow you to roll the turd hearse into hitch carrier?

That would probably be the easiest, but then you have to store it....

If I remember right Elkmont has no showers......I guess they could always rough it without one for 14 days LOL. That's how the pioneers did it.

They were also pretty good at conserving resources of all types. This is from the nps.gov website.
Shower facilities are available in the communities surrounding the national park. Please inquire about the nearest facilities when you check-in at the campground. (5 amp electric hookups are available at a few sites in Cades Cove, Elkmont, and Smokemont for use only by those with medical needs. Check www.recreation.gov for more information.)

Get a set of ramps like you would use for puting a riding lawn mower or ATV in a truck bed. Install a d ring or eye bolt in the center front of your truck bed. Use a come-along to pull it into the truck.

Yes but 14 days washing a few dishes and some showers will add up, and the front sink tank empties after the black tank on our setup,,,. The come along method may be the best

I actually built an electric winch in my truck bed for getting the tote to or even into the truck when we got too old and our backs got too weak to pull the 32 gallon tote. Now...I just push the button on the remote control and here comes the tote.

I'm in the macerator group. Get one hooked up and leave the tank in the bed of the truck. Much easier than trying to manipulate that tank full of... water.
