Power Awning Strut

We just purchased a used 2014 Shamrock 25rs and after getting it home I went to open the Dometic Power Awning and the left side didn't want to open. I then noticed that when it is in the closed position the very bottom of the awning arm sticks out from the camper a couple inches instead of being tight against the camper like the other side. If I push the bottom tight against the camper and pull out on the top as someone pushes the extend button then it opens with no problem. After inspecting it, all I can see is that maybe the strut(shock) on that side is worn out and needs replacing. Anyone have any experience with this or know of anything else it could be? I am new to these power awnings so it's all a learning experience for me. Thanks!

The material is probably not centered on the roller. Deploy the awning and center the material and pop rivet the side hems to the tube.

I checked to see if it was centered and it was. I really think it's the strut because when I pull each side down manually to tilt it, the left side is a lot easier to pull down than the right. Makes me think that the strut needs replacing.
