Power awning tilt

I got this information from the other ForestRiver web site. Dometic has made an adjustable pitch arm kit for the 9100 Power Awning. It allows you to tilt the awning for water drainage. It is a FREE kit. Your dealership can order from Dometic and then install for around $50. Some people maybe able to install themselves. The kit number is 3312508.017b . And the dealership needs the model off you awning arm.

This a link to the other forum that talks about power awning.

This is good info. I'm still glad I have a manual. I know the next RV will most likely have an electric one and I'll use this info then. Thanks

This is good news. The electric awning on my 2009 Rockwood proved to be a disappointment last summer and fall. Not only do I have to use the broom to drain it, but it is much harder to tie down in the wind than the manual one in my old TT. A way to tilt the thing would be a big step forward.

I hated my power awning when I got my rv. I researched and found out about the add on part Dometic was offering. They almost kept it "hush-hush" instead of offering it to anyone with a power awning. Anyway, I had my dealer order me one and I installed it myself in about 10 minutes. I have been camping two times since the install and now I LOVE my power awning. It rained both times and it works great. I also use awning tie downs which helps with wind and rain. I would not have it any other way. I was at the rv show here in atlanta a couple of weeks ago and noticed almost every unit with the ae power awnings had at least one pitch arm installed, some had two. Attached is a picture of mine with the arm about half way down. Hopefully the picture will post.

It looks great .... Thank you for the picture. How do you use the tie downs and where did you get them?

Last year the V-Cross by Forestriver came standard with the up grade power awning. I don't know what model it was but you could tilt and adjust it just like a standard roll-out awning. The salesmen said it was a new design that came out for 2008.

We got our trailer in April 08 before Dometic release the fix. My dealership told me yesterday that they have already call other buyers who ask for help about the lack of tilt.

after reading this, I asked my dealer why my TT didn't have the mod kit. ( I just bought it last weekend). He responded back with this:

Chris:

The “Pitch Arm” kit and the bracket are on the way to you.

John

Hopefully the install is easy, I'm not much of a handy man!!!

John, thats great news. I think it does not look that hard to install yourself, I know your a distance from your dealer. Others have said you will need an extra set of hands. I also comes with instructions from A&E.

Cool, thanks guys!! My dealer has been very responsive to all of my questions!!

You are welcome to call Boyd from my prep department if you have questions about installing the kit.

It goes on the arm that doesn’t have the motor installed. The motor is usually in the front, so in stall the kit in the rear arm.

this is good info. I bought a 2008 sunseeker 31 ss last year and have the same problem with my awning. we hardly ever use it because it looks like it will blow apart in the wind and cave in if it rains. I will definatly be checking into this. thank you

Just got around to installing tonight!! It was a pain in the rear!! I had to hold the entire back side of the awning up on unlevel ground and have my wife replace the pins as I held it up!! That thing can get heavy!! But it all works great now. Here is a link to a few pictures. Chris
