What kind of trailer and what kind of fridge? I'm going to guess you have an electric only fridge, since a normal power loss should have switched you to propane on most RV fridges (not sure on all models of the 3-way fridge though).
In ours, the fridge is on a separate circuit than the GFI so the one shouldn't affect the other. You may be able to do something similar if it's a big issue.
That aside, the concern is to figure out why the GFI trips. Do you know if it happens before the power is cut, or after it's restored? If before, it sounds like the surge guard is defective and letting some of the surge through. If after, you might have something with a large draw on startup that's tripping it.
