Put carpet tiles in my camper today. Super happy with how it turned out.

Last week I fixed an issue with the step below my camper door. It had a lot of give in it when you stepped on it. I found I had some rot due to a crack in the door frame.

After I fixed this, I found that under all the linoleum in the camper, it was sopping wet.

I THINK the dealer I bought it from last year fixed a roof leak but didn't fix the water infiltration.

I put a box fan and a dehumidifier out there and dried it out.

We've got some really heavy rain this past week and I didn't see any new water, which leads to my suspicion that its been fixed already and this water has just been sitting there with no way out.

Luckily, no real rot. I soaked it down with bleach, just to kill any potential spores.

I've been getting about a gallon a day out of the dehumidifier.

Yesterday I put down louan down, on top of the old louan, just to help strengthen things up. I also put liquid nail between the layer, and then screwed them together with 1/2" wood screws.

I got a good deal on carpet tiles at Menards. $1.99 for 20"x20" tiles. Low nap. Very heavy duty. I used double sided carpet tape beneath the tiles. I was going to use a carpet adhesive, but it said it wasn't freeze/thaw safe.

Tomorrow I'll be putting in quarter round and metal transition strips for the doors.

Looks really nice! What made you choose carpet over linolium?

The good deal I got on the carpet tiles, plus we'd been kicking around the idea of carpet, it will help deaden sound in the camper. Plus it will be warmer because we do a lot of camping in cooler months.

Turned out really good. Should make it feel warmer in the early spring and late fall.

that's a great mod, and yes, warmer in the winter than the vinyl, .... and you did it a good way, ..... we have the wood look vinyl in our Micro Lite 25KS, to cover it with carpet, we bought an "end of role" piece from Lowes, I made a complete paper pattern of the trailer floor, then outlined that onto the underside of the carpet piece, then cut it out, ... worked good but much more trouble than your idea, ....

I had a few that had the corners turn up over night, so I used my brad gun on them, when I was putting the quarter round in today. It actually worked really well.

I put carpet tiles in my theater. If you run the vacuum over them a few times, the fibers at the edges interlock and you cant really see the seams.

Construction in progress:

After completion and a couple of good vacuumings:

Carpet tiles

Great idea. Traditional carpet in RVs loses its body in a hurry.
