Roger, I won't be able to make it this weekend. I'm in Memphis at Memphis in May music fest. I will be back in action next week though.

I am having problems on 40 as when I transmit it turns my plasma TV on and off. Crazy. Can't check in until I figure this one out.

My transmitter was turning the light in the curio on and off.

I put in a dedicated ground to the radio and tuner that stopped that spurious RF.

I have a great ground set up. Braided copper to a copper bus bar to a solid outside ground. On 10, 15 and 20 meters I can run 1500 watts out and it has no affect on the TV. It has me baffled.

You all seem to be having fun back there on the east coast
I listened the other night but heard nothing on 7.255 with my
beam with a 40 meter add on kit up 85ft.

Was just getting dark up here so I thought maybe the gray
line may have still been good into the east coast. I did hear
some stations up band around 7.240/7.245 in Indiana for a
bit that were S6/7 at times with fading

You got something wrong LOL,

Might want to try a low pass filer on 40, if 10 15 20 are not cause problems then your grounding is good, could also try a ferright ring on power input of TV.

Try some choke's or ferrit beads across your coax cables, your
TV input cables and Radio control cables. You can buy them
at a Radio Shack store if you still have one around you, some
but not many are still around but not many.

I would also also check to make sure your coax connectors are
not duty and tight.

Make sure your jumpers between the radio and tuner or
amp are all good, one bad apple can generate lots of RF.
I check my jumper against a dummy load with my analyzer
before installing them. even then after a few months I have
found one to go bad.

Mr. Murphy has way to make a HAM pull out his or her hair
tracking down RF problems.

73 and good luck

Chuck

Good turn out tonight, appears that freq will be 7.255 40 m at 9:00PM EST for the FROG Ham net and that days for net will be Sunday and Wednesday but anyone can call net on other nights if they so desire. Look froward to having some RV sites start checking in. Thanks to all who have checked in and we have had some great signal reports from several states. As of tonight we have had 9 states plus several non FROG's checking in.

I checked in with Jim AI4SR tonight but he had a hard time hearing my 100W to a G5RV. His 1KW was nice and clear. Roger sounded fuzzy and the signal was weak but I could copy it OK. I didn't hear anyone else. This is my first check in, I was at a COE campground all of last week and had my HF radio with me but after 30 miles from home remembered the antenna was still in the garage and I wasn't about to drive another 60 miles just to get it.

I was at Service Park COE just west of Silas, AL on the Tombigbee River. As one of the other RVr's said, it is the best place there is to do nothing. Great to watch barge traffic (and gators) and certain times of the year the yachts and sailboats coming and going from the Gulf up to the Tennessee River.

Marv's signal was not that bad. Some QRM (on both sides of 7.255) hurt along with QRN. Without that, it would have been "armchair copy". Roger was a bit stronger. Not a formal plan tonight, but I will be listening just to see how the interest is going....

I will be on after the RACES net at 9 pm.

I solved the capacitance light switch issue by putting a loop in the lamp power cord and clipping a ferrite snap on choke to the loop.

Seems RF is getting on my power lines. The loop and choke traps the RF so the lights stay out.

I tried last night but I was on the wrong frequency. The QRM kept me from hearing much of anything. I will try tonight on 7.255 from so. oregon.

I tuned in last night but a station on 7.254 caused so much qrm I couldn't hear anyone but him. I will try again Sunday.

I missed it tonight. I was listening at 7.255 and heard the guys on 7.254 rag chewing. One guy had a lengthy dissertation about seal coating his driveway. There seems to be someone on 7.254 every night at 9:00pm, may be a schedule. Might be just as well to move to 7.257 next time.
