While we do not drink FW tank water we do brush our teeth with it, so the OP's idea has no appeal to me.

I dump the FWT ASAP, no point in leaving it in there.

1/4 cup of bleach per 15 gallons of water before the first trip out or if the trailer sits for awhile.

You could chlorinate and or boil the water before you use it but would it be worth it?
+1. This is exactly the point that the OP isn't getting. You can't just "filter" rainwater and make it safely drinkable. That's a first step, but it's not the end. A filter will remove physical particles down to whatever size the filter claims it's rated to, but it cannot remove bacteria or other (potentially harmful) microscopic pathogens. It needs to be further "treated" (either with chlorination--with adequate contact time--or by boiling/distillation.)

To make the distinction that "I'm just going to use it to flush the toilet," doesn't hold water (pun intended) because you still have to put this potentially contaminated water into your FW tank to flush--and there's the potential that someone could drink this unsafe water by filling a glass from the kitchen sink. Especially kids--they're known for not listening too well at times--do you want your kid drawing a glass of water from the sink and getting sick from it? You'd never forgive yourself, even if you told him 2 minutes before "don't drink from the sink." You don't want to put any water into your FW tank that you wouldn't want to drink. If you're prepared to TREAT it (not just filtering it,) then by all means proceed with your plans. But understand that it's going to be more work than you think it is.
