Thanks for suffering the crowds - they were really cool pictures! I've lived near Andrews AFB for years now and haven't went to see the airshow there. I really need to get there and see it!

Thanks. Stuck in the Winter, working. So pics are a nice escape. I couldn't agree more on the fresh caught shrimp thing. Night and Day!
I think most shrimp in grocery stores are farm raised and just have no flavor!

The past few days have been red flag days at the beach due to high winds and high surf. Wednesday two 12 year old girls had to be rescued by the Coast Guard and life guards on wave runners. The girls went into the ocean on one of those swimming pool rafts and the wind, tide, and current took them out to sea. They were over a mile from shore when they were rescued. Those two girls were very, very lucky.

Here’s a link to the short story.

I think the majority of tourists who don’t live near an ocean are totally clueless as to what the posted flags on the beaches mean.

I see an Iowa Hawkeye visor!

Good to know about the "red flag"!

It's funny how some of your pics seem to get "photo bombed" with cute young adults......

Yes, it's very frustrating taking a picture only to have those bikini clad young gals suddenly show up in the frame.

We had one last beach day today before we start our trip back to St. Louis tomorrow. It was an interesting day on the beach so I thought I would a few last photos from Gulf Shores, AL.

A bi-plane buzzed the beach today.

This next photo was something we haven’t seen in Gulf Shores before, I don’t even know what it’s called. Apparently you can rent time on it though and it does look like it would be a lot of fun.

This post wouldn’t be complete without one photo just for Turbs.

I’m not going to comment on this last photo except to say I think carrying a Captain America shield is a bit much.

Our month in Gulf Shores is over and I'm sad, but then again, I'm happy because this is just the beginning of the RV season.

Coulda done without captain america pic, but I suppose some beefcakes for the lady viewers is helpful. Pretty sure they play on the boys team and golf from the ladies tee.

A few days before we headed back home to MO, a truck camper pulled into the spot next to us. This was a brand new truck camper and the couple who owned it were on a shakedown trip with it. They plan to use it for a trip to Alaska this summer. I have a lot of respect for couples that can live in something that small for an extended period of time. If you're a truck camper my hat is off to you.

On the way home we made an overnight stop at Movie Town RV Park in Canton, MS. We have used this park in the past but I think this will have to be the last time. The park seems to be filled with day workers and seasonal/permanent RVers. It doesn’t give me a warm and fuzzy feeling to see campers like these in a park. I also don’t get a warm and fuzzy feeling about the people who live in trailers like this. BTW, these were our neighbors at the park.

Notice the missing wheel in the next photo.

It looks like they are using that without it being mounted on the truck. Is that possible? I thought they had to be on the truck to be usable from a stability perspective? Anyone know?

The electric stabilizing jacks are an option on the Lance campers and make it a stand alone camper. I wonder if Palomino offers that on their truck campers?

When I had a truck camper way back I had 4 point Hdy Jacks. I would not have tried the stand a lone.

My truck camper had THREE manual crank jacks for stand alone.

One at both corners on the right and one in the middle on the left.

Mayberry campground looks like it will be nice once some trees get planted and established.

When we were in Gulf Shores back in 2011 BP was still cleaning tar balls off the beaches and there was still quite a bit of oil contamination in the Gulf waters. That all seems to be in the past now, the beaches are beautiful and the water is clear. With the number of Pelicans, Herons and Dolphins we saw on this trip I think the cleanup of the ocean must have been a complete success.

A picture of a Pelican diving into the Gulf for a meal.

While we were feeding some Seagulls, this Heron showed up to see what was going on. He wasn’t too interested in the bread we were tossing out.

Speaking of Seagulls, some people enjoy feeding Seagulls while others hate it because they fear getting pooped on.

We visited one of the many souvenir shops in Gulf Shores and I had them make a T-Shirt for me.

Here’s a heads up for anyone planning to visit Gulf Shores or Orange Beach, AL. The new Baldwin Beach Express road is scheduled to open later this summer. This road will connect to the existing Foley Beach Express and will allow drivers to bypass the always crowded Hwy 59.

I guess this post wouldn’t be complete without one more “scenery” shot.
