Range top vent hood.

How do I open the outside flap so my hood will vent?

There are a few different styles of vent and damper, but the one that has caused a recent rash of posts here is tough at first. It eventually gets easier.

Push up on both tabs with your thumbs and it should open.

See the picture above on the previous post.

Turn the motor around? It should already be set to blow out the vent, no?

Or just reverse the wires if it is blowing the wrong direction.

Maybe the trailer was built for Australia. Everything spins backwards south of the equator ya know!

This thread has become confusing to me. The vent on the outside of the trailer is for the range hood fan, not the microwave. Most RV microwaves I’ve seen are designed to vent into the trailer not out the hood vent.

As you can see in the picture the Microwave vents air out the top and into the trailer.

You are correct. If he was truly talking about the microwave fan, there is nothing to be done to it. It cannot be made to blow out the vent. It is not hooked to the vent. Only the range hood is hooked to the vent.

I don't know. I have a outside vent and no air comes out of the vent. When I turn on the range hood air comes out in camper. I have been putting it off dropping the microwave but I will drop it this week and see where the outside vent is at, the hole that goes outside.

Old Coot said it. The wires on the fan were probably hooked up backwards. Don't know your camper but you should be able to pull off a protective metal cover under your hood and switch the wires.

It doesn't take that much to drop microwave. I don't mess with anything electric, I'm a danger to myself as well as others.

I think you are confusing the microwave with the vent hood. Microwave should slide out from it's cabinet while the vent hood drops down after removing just 4 screws. Turn off shore power first then disconnect 12v battery. Drop the vent hood, reconnect the 12v battery and switch on the fan to determine which way the air is blowing. Then check the wall vent hole to determine if a blockage exists. I've seen fans installed backwards, cardboard blocking the vent hole in the wall and exterior wall flapper siliconed shut for unknown reasons. Good luck with your project.

On my microwave you take two screws out from the top and the microwave will tilt down, then you take the microwave off the bracket. My microwave is not hooked up to 12volt power, just 110

He did. Then said he has to turn the motor around because it's blowing backwards.
