Recall

We have a 2013 Windjammer 3008. Recently got a recall notice because there is not adequate clearance between the tire and the bottom of the floor at GVWR. If I hit a bump or pothole, the tire could blow causing mayhem.

They have to remove the axle to install a lift kit between the frame and axles. This will take more than a few hours.

So, I have to drive 145 miles and leave it at the dealers to do this.

I got one of those letters a few weeks ago but I already had the repair work done. The tires rubbed the wheel well causing damage to the tires and the wheel well. Everything fixed under warranty. New axles installed as well as spacer kit to now provide a 3 - 4 inch tire clearance. Dexter recommends a minimum of 3 inch clearance to allow for tire clearance during axle flexing operations.

Makes you wonder about the engineers that originally design these rigs that they can't get something as simple as tire clearance correct! Wow....

I guess you have to go to Thunder Bay to get fixed, so why not get it done in May so you can arrange a camping trip at the same time? Camp the night before, bring in the morning and you should have it by the afternoon....just saying. Lots of snow there? Also it's too cold to get in done at this time of the year?

Yes, Fonzie, that's my plan. I could take it to Recreation World in Thunder Bay or back to Little falls, Mn. where we purchased the WJ. It 300 miles to Little Fallls and 120 to TB. At 12 MPG, I guess it's TB. To bad gas wasn't part of the warranty.
