Replace TV Antenna?
I have what I believe is a CA 1500 omnidirectional tv antenna that just doesn't pick up signals very well. Any suggestions for a replacement that won't require major mods to the roof?

I'm not sure of the exact procedure to replace your antenna. However, the only antenna I would use as a replacement is the crank-up Winegard antenna with the Wingman accessory attached to it.

Thanks. I would like to get a crank-up antenna, but the location of the current one doesn't allow for a crank on the interior.

Antenna booster switch on?
If it is then Jack is the way to go if you need a solid mount antenna.

Yep, booster is on. I even pulled the booster assembly to check that all connections were tight. We have gotten a great signal when camped near large cities so I know the system works. Just looking for an antenna that may pull in weaker signals.

I may not need a new antenna after all. Looks like the area we were camping in may just have poor proximity to strong signals. Here is a graphic of the stations in the area. Any stations in the red or grey are considered marginal for anything other than the strongest antenna.

That antenna is junk. Attached is info. I recommend replacing with a Jack antenna, but it will require some modifications as the OEM antenna is mounted using a small hole in the roof( for coax) and no hole in ceiling as it can not be rotated. I use a temporary external cheap $40 antenna when I need tv and it is 2-3 times better. Any antenna that does not publish gain spec is suspicious.

Thanks Bob! I am leaning towards a cheap external antenna as you suggest. Might even make one myself.
