Replacing steps on my 5er

Has anyone replaced the factory steps on their 5er. Mine are the two step pull out variety and my DW has a horrible time with them. Any suggestions on replacements?

I just put on Glowsteps. They solve most every problem that any other step introduces.

I put the Lippert Solid Steps on mine. Wow I loved them, I have stability problems so they are great. Put a Mor Ryde tool box where my steps were.

You know what works for some just doesn’t work for others. Sid installed them and him and Lois loves them. I just can’t get over the fact of putting all that water and dirt in the camper. But to each his own.

I also put the Torklift GlowStep Revolution on mine last year...

Love them and installed them myself without any help.

Took me about an hour to figure it out...then about 20 minutes to remove the old and put in the new!

The only tools I needed were two screwdrivers and two socket wrenches.

The screwdrivers were only used to hang the steps in place (using two of the screw holes) while I started the screws in the other holes (if that makes any sense ).

I like the fact that these can be deployed at just about any angle or any surface, plus they have adjustable feet on the ground so no more bounce.

Not to mention that there are three adjustable settings for where the top step can be!

They have glow-in-the-dark strips so you can see them in the dark, and they now have new steps that have LED lights (I think solar) instead of the glow tape.

I did move that locking pin to the right side of the steps as I kept skinning my knuckles on that yellow marker light.

When you stop just for a bathroom break do you have to adjust the steps if the ground is uneven

To be fair, my installation was hard. The Glowsteps come in two widths. Neither one fit my opening. I believe on 90% of campers, they slide right in. I made mine work, but it required some jury rigging. And afterwards, they are great. They contact the ground, which is what is giving these other steps their stability. They do NOT go inside the camper, which I'd never have.......and which is the biggest issue with the other brand more-stable steps. They just fix everything.

The steps deploy like an accordion. Just pull them out as far as you need. They adjust two ways when at a campgrounds...........and an additional 3 ways at the top. But you won't have to do all that just to deploy them temporarily. They'll pull out and work fine if you have barely enough room at a truck stop......or they'll pull out further if needed. You won't have any trouble getting in and out even if they are not perfectly aligned for that location. The adjustments are slight, and don't keep them from working fine anywhere.

And did I mention they are NOT inside your trailer?? LOL

Nope!

Just put them down and go inside!

This is one of the places where the Glowsteps excel over the MorRyde or Lippert fold-up steps.

As mentioned- no, just pull them down and go inside. If you're in a busy truck stop, you don't have to extend them all of the way and can stay within your lines.

For the most part, any adjust-ability can be dealt with at the top if you really need some.

Heck, when my son was potty training- we would stop along side the highway on an entrance/exit ramp and run him back. We opened them a million places without ever adjusting the feet.

This is the second place where they excel beyond the MorRyde/Lippert steps- you don't have to worry about the swing space of them. I've been in some very tight truck stops and wouldn't have wanted to worry about if I could or couldn't open my steps.

Thanks, I’ll look at those steps. We stop at a lot of rest areas, most times we don’t extend the bottom step

Curious -- what problem are you trying to solve?

We had 3 step aluma tread (very nice and sturdy) but the third step was too high off the ground so we were constantly using a separate folding step.

I switched to the 4 step aluma tread and problem solved.

Talking Glow step

I installed the GlowStep on my Big Country 5th wheel and the wife and my self love them.....even the fur babies like them because they are more sturdy than the OEM steps....the step above I could not have put them out in my rv port. Plus I would hate to have all that dirt and water inside my camper. I have had knee and hip replacement and the glow steps are rock solid ......

How level are the treads if you only pull them out a short distance and contact the ground?
It would seem from the photos they are made to have level treads when fully deployed and extended from the camper?

It's just the step depth (front to back) itself isn't as deep.

Torklift GlowStep Revolution

I have looked at the Torklift GlowStep Revolution and would like to install a set. However the inside measurement of my step brackets is 26.75 inches. The only two widths I could find in these steps was 25.5 and 27.5 inches. Any ideas on which one would work? Appreciate you folks and the feedback.
