The folks that choose to hire these company's should just go back to doing it them self like the Govt did before they contracted it out. Worked a lot better. Later RJD

The folks hiring the companies are borderline clueless how it is ran or needs to be run, that's the problem. Reserve America took alot of, if not most of the control out of the hands of the LIVE parks personnel sitting behind the desk. It turned them into just a computer operator and that's all they could do. Or of course contact tech support by phone to change something in the system, which by then has everyone disgusted.
Glad it's gone from the local state parks.

Lots of hate here

I’ve been using these sites for over a decade, and have only thought they are like every other government related website I have ever used: slow, cumbersome and outdated. But that’s always what was expected. Just like I don’t expect the DMV website to work like Amazon, it never occurred to me that reserveamerica was sub par since it was working with government agencies. It has always been the less than ideal web portal I expected.

I say this because the creation of this thread surprised me, and my first thought was, why would anyone care? Then, reading the posts I was astounded at how many people feel sighted by this website, and have Ill will toward it - actually seem to want it dead. It is a surprisingly hot topic.

I did some more looking into the Reserve America system and just cannot find any of the problems y’all are talking about.

Since I had planned to make a reservation next month I opened up their app and signed into my account. Entered park name and selected the dates and immediately got a list of all sites available for those dates. Selected site number and then filled out the RV info, number of persons, etc. Since I was signed in to my account it accepted my CC number and amount. Done.

Total time was one minute, 52 seconds. So, where’s the problem.

At some point during every day you suddenly realize nothing else productive is going to happen the rest of that day. For me, it usually occurs around 9 am.

Have been using RA for 6 years. I have never had a problem. I also don't have a problem with the fees charged for initial reservations or cancellations. After talking to many CG owners about cancellations I have learned many people who cancel don't understand, or care about, the ramifications to the CG or other campers. I understand if there is an emergency but so many cancel just because of a weather report and do so late . The late cancelled sites usually can not be filled leading to lost revenue for the CG, public or private. I'm confident those empty sites could have been filled many times by campers who would have showed up. I also wonder how well the states who have gone back to their own reservation systems will do. Especially in a year after the new systems they are using are not new. In my experience the state does not usually do anything better than a private company.

Cancellation fees during PEAK season, I understand it. Off season there's no reason for it.
The added forced fee just for booking a site even if I show up in person, hogwash.

Exactly what we did.

What's crazy to me is yesterday after making a few posts in this forum I got an email from Reserve America. Weird since I haven't received any emails since I signed up and used the site over a year ago.

Iíve not seen a booking fee. Itís the same price for booking on line, via the app or showing up in person. At least thatís been my experience.

I have used both sites for as long as they have been around. Reserve America was easy to use, easy to check up on sites available, easy to make last minute reservation. The new Reserve Calif. website is another example of how terrible our govt is at being efficient.
Cant stand the new website- its glitchy, camp sites pop up as available when they are not, the site is terribly slow, the site fails to load completely, and a long list of other complaints.
