Robin Williams would be proud,
Let me tell the story 'bout a man named Tim.
Camper toilet's full, can't fit no more poo in.
Then he went out to go empty the tank,
When up from the ground rose a horrible stank.
Well, the next thing you know ol Tim's covered in crap.
The campground boss yelled at him to go and close the trap.
Apparently the parks tank is full up to the brim
And that's the reason for the poo that Tim is now wearin'.

Egad. Shame on the campground boss for letting this happen...and not notifying EVERY camper of the problem.

Man, that stinks! (C'mon, you know the puns are a comin'). Sheesh, I hope they reimburse for time and trouble. Agree with should have notified. I'm not sure as a campground owner if I would have even taken reservations if I had a full tank for whatever reason. Yikes!

Did anyone catch that my opening post was written as alternative lyrics to the Beverly Hillbillies theme song?

Sorry that sucks. I would be furious on so many levels. I would make him reimburse my camping fee for that mess. Glad you at least have some humor about it.

Had a similar experience last weekend. Stayed at a place with no hookups. Stopped at the dump station on the way out and immediately noticed that their tank looked full when I flipped the non threaded lid.
The poop tank went ok since it went slow and their wasn't a lot in there. When I pulled the grey tank, everything was fine for about 15 seconds... then the grumble. I was able to get out of the way before it overflowed.
I feel for you OP.

John, if that were me, I sure wouldn't use my own shower. I'd go, clothes and all, to the campground shower house and clean up there.

Seriously though the DW and I actually witnessed a Poo moment at the dump station a couple of years ago. I was in the waiting line behind a guy that was getting ready to dump. The guy takes the cap off and brown crude came gushing everywhere! I looked at the wife and said "Am I seeing what I think I'm seeing"? Any way the lane next to him opened up and I moved over there to dump my tanks. The guy says to me "I guess I forgot to close the black tank valve the last time we went camping". I said well, sh*t happens and I'm sure it's a mistake he won't make again!

I know that people around here get upset when I post about how they shouldn't leave their gray tanks open all the time and get the old "I've been doing it for 40 years with no problems!" answers...
But they don't have to stick around to see what happens to the campground's septic system when it stops working a week or two or month or so later...
Leaving gray tanks open will cause that early morning and late evening sewer smell around the RV park by allowing the gas to escape through the roof vents of the RV's with open gray tank valves (even if a P-trap is formed in your sewer hose), plus it throws off the balance of the septic tank working off it's own bacteria (or whatever that is called) by releasing the gas.
This could be why this park's septic system is backing up!
Not trying to start a war here...just pointing out a possibility of what is going on there!
Here is a video on the subject: https://www.youtube.com/watch?reload=9&v=Q4A-41EdBBc

Campground owners/operators have no clue sometimes. Two years ago we were leaving an Ontario Provincial Park after a lovely October Thanksgiving weekend. The park was closing for the year so everyone was heading out that day. The line up for the dump station seemed longer and slower than we had ever seen. Finally a camper came back along the line explaining that the septic system was full and overflowing. We all had to organize a back out and turn around campaign. Not a ranger in sight.
