Rockwood HW 296 vs.Coleman Niagara?

Thinking of buying a new HW 296 or new (2011) Coleman Niagara. Obvious advantages go to Rockwood, as Coleman situation is a problem for service, parts, warranty, etc. Is quality of Rockwood as good as Coleman? Also, my local Rockwood dealer does not inventory any HW units, and they seemed ambivalent about ordering one for me. 6 week wait? Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

I can't say anything about the Coleman's because I haven't owned or looked at any.

I have seen 2 or 3 Flagstaff HW's (sister to Rockwood) and I've owned a couple of Flagstaff pop ups, but not HW's. They are very nice. I really like the ones that have the pull out's with a U-shape booth. The toilet/showers look pretty good for what they are. All the features you find in tt's. Microwave, 3 way refrig, oven, range, etc.... I even saw one with a LCD tv and DVD player! Large for pop ups. I believe they were 16' boxes and over 26' when opened up.
From what I seen they are made with real plywood, no wafer board. Salesman also confirmed this. Overall, very nice campers.

6-8 weeks waiting period seems to be normal no matter what brand or type of rv. Here's a link to their web site;

just a suggestion.

this forum doesn't have a lot of popup owners, yet.
you'll get much more feedback by asking your question on other popup forums, which are much more active.

PUX's or's Folding Trailer forums are very active, with owners of both brands.

Not sure where you're located but check out We bought a 277 HW a few months ago and absolutely love it. They usually have some in stock and I'm sure you can have it shipped. Good luck with your purchase.

I have owned two Coleman pop ups, a 94 Pioneer Chesapeake, NO problems, and a much larger Utah W/Cassette potty, and a slide out, couch hot and cold water, and 2 king size beds. This one leaked in the corner of the bed end on one side, and the front storage compartment. Very roomy, however. Traded it in for what I have now. Randy
