Roller Coaster

Life has its ups and downs and I'm on a roller coaster. So much fun camping with friends and family but when I went to pick up our trailer from storage on the 3rd, I found it had been broken into and all the electronics stolen. They didn't break any windows or pry any doors; they went up on the roof and broke open the skylight over the shower. For some reason they pulled the power center from the wall but didn't go through any drawers. I've fixed the power center better than factory and a new skylight will be delivered today. I purchased replacement electronics and this time the wall mounts will have quick disconnects so I can store the tvs and DVDs at home. We still had a wonderful time camping, it's just that nagging feeling of being violated. They could have done so much more damage and for that I'm grateful. Unfortunately the $300,000 Tiffin parked next to me wasn't as lucky. They busted out a side window to gain entry and clean them out.

You might want to consider a new storage unit.

They're all susceptible.

Similar thing happens to us several years ago. Ours was in winter storage so TV, battery, etc. were removed but they cut all the copper wiring for the scrap copper. Did almost $500 in damage for less than $20 in copper. I immediately found a new storage facility after that. Luckily zero problems (knock on wood) since.

I am sorry to here that. I know the feeling. I recently had my truck broken into in my driveway. The loss was not as great as loosing my feeling of security.

Man that stinks.
Glad to hear you are thankful for what didn't happen.
Any chance the storage facility had cameras/video?

Well, 90% back to "normal". Replaced broken skylight and inner ring garnish. New TV mounted in the main living area on a quick disconnect wall mount. Manufacturer of the articulated arm mount in the bedroom was awesome to work with. Bought new mounting plate for the arm rather than buying a whole new mount. New mounting plate will arrive tomorrow and we'll be back where we were before the break-in. Actually better because now we have a 40" 1080P TV in the main living area.

I actually thought about moving to another storage facility. But as I talked with the two other RV facilities in my area, they have experienced similar issues. My storage facility is moving me from the back lot to the front lot which is on the main thoroughfare. But as my best friend, a salesman for a Toyota dealership told me, "Nothing will stop a determined thief." They had cars jacked up and tires/wheels stolen off of new cars even though the dealership is on a main "auto row" street. Cameras caught them in and out in less than five minutes.

Bottom line, NO electronics/valuables stored in trailer and I'm posting a sign on my trailer door while in storage stating nothing of value inside. May work, may not, bu time will tell.
