Question Roof Ladder Suggestions

I am looking to add a roof ladder to my 2007 Cherokee Lite 5th wheel. I am looking for any suggestions on which ladder to use, and as important, instructions on how to mount, basically to ensure I "hit" solid support members and not just the open space in the wall.

Unless your camper originally had a ladder from the factory "generally" it cannot be added after the fact.

Is that due to the missing support system within the walls of the RV? I risk more damage to the roof (and me!) trying to use by 8' step ladder to get on top of it. I was told (unreliable source) that putting a ladder on it is "not that big of a deal". BTW the picture of your fifth wheel looks very similar to my 07' Cherokee

With laminated fiberglass sides, attachment of anything to the camper must have backing (wooden or sheet metal) when the wall is made. There are aluminum 'studs', but their spacing wouldn't match the ladder mounts. It doesn't seem that many TH's have a roof ladder as std or option as they can't be mounted at the back because of the ramp door.

How about one of those telescoping ladders for roof access?

Echo with the other post. I recently purchased an Apex 26BHS and asked the dealer to install an access ladder. They said the support system has to be installed the factory or it will cause severe damage to the camper. Bummer. I guess a step ladder is the only way.

This is what I bought for my trailer. I use it all the time setting up my flag pole.

Good luck.

Thanks to all replies. Looks like I will be purchasing a telescoping ladder as well!
