Roof Mounting?

Hey everyone, just bought a 21' salem here in sunny san diego, and since its attaching a solar panel setup!

can anyone tell me if its safe just to mount on the roof wherever? i have common sense so i won't be doing anything stupid. but if anyone has any expierence mounting rooftop, please let me know how you went about it.

the solar panel comes with mounting brackets, looks like about quarter inch depth is needed, i just dont know what is up there, 2x4? and if i need to seal the hole, etc...

thanks for any responses!

Avoid mounting over roof vents, crank-up antennas, skylights, waste vents and air conditioners. Other than that, go for it! Just be sure and SEAL all screw holes.

Best bet is to cover the area you are putting the bracket with sealant, screw the bracket down, then completely cover the bracket with sealant. Makes a completely waterproof seal. I installed all our solar panels this way and worked fine. On our new travel trailer, I had someone else install them and they actually installed them on all the studs. Which on our new one is easy to find. If you can find them, use them, but do the same sealant job.
