Rooftop vs ducted rooftop air
Hello everyone! I'm new to the forum, and my wife and I are considering a new Wildwood X-Lite 261BHXL trailer. We've narrowed down the choices to a couple of units. One has the regular rooftop a/c and the other has ducted rooftop a/c. Any opinions? Other than that difference, the trailers are equipped the same: show stopper pkge, convenience pkge, double door refrig, range with oven, deep cycle battery, cable tv ready and spare tire. Are we missing anything?
Our tow vehicle is a 2002 GMC Yukon with the 5.3 liter V8 engine.
Thanks in advance for any advice you can offer.

I've had both and prefer the ducted. Ducted a/c cools more evenly, no more "hot" ends of the trailer and cold in the middle.

I have had both as well and preferred the ducted AC system. Also with the ducted system, you have the ability to open the vents on the unit to give it the same function as a regular rooftop AC. At least, mine does. Best of both worlds in other words.

Ducted!
by the way, non-ducted is called "Blast from the Center" a/c.

Ducted is the best one. Able to get cool air evenly distributed but also able to "quick cool" the living area and it is quieter that the non-ducted A/C.

Ducted. And if you have a choice on ducted or non-ducted heat, I'd also pick the former. Getting out of the shower in winter with the bathroom door closed can be a chilly proposition without a heating duct in there.
I also think the ceiling space required for the AC ducts makes it a little quieter inside when it's raining hard.

Just bought an Apex 268BHS and it has ducted but what I liked about it is the air unit sits above the kitchen area. There is a louvre lever than can close off the ducts and force the air into the kitchen/dining room area. The dealer said it was really handy when cooking inside in the summer since the stove puts off a good deal of heat.

Our first TT a single slide-out Puma ..and our first 5th wheel both had the "grill work" in the ceiling..for the A/C.. which worked ok ..but when it turned on..TOO NOISEY !!! you would have to turn the volume up on the television to hear that..then if you needed to talk to someone at the same time... things get louder ...Our new Crusader 5th wheel...only small round vents for the air in the ceiling....very nice ..is see this as a trend setting design for the future

This is very true I had both, and you can still open the slides in the grill for cooling an area faster, but it is alot quieter and you still get high and low fan, I just keep my fan speed on low so you can still carry on a conversation without yelling to be heard.......

I currently have both, ducked in the kitchen/living area 15,000 btu and not ducked in the bedroom 13,500 btu. The ducked is better even distribution and less noise. The non-ducked in the bedroom is noisy and it has settings vs controler. Good Luck with your new unit.

Ours is both. We can run it either way by opening and closing a valve.
Sometimes we use the roof only for cold air in the main living area quickly, then flip a valve to get it going central ducted to cool the rest.

Ours does both.We will open the grill when we first get in to cool it down quick. Then we go ducted to keep a nice even temp and its quieter.
