Rough roads
I made a quick, 600 mile one way, trip to just inside Michigan line above Toledo, Oh. this past weekend to pick up my new 46 Mercury and I got to tell you the Pa turnpike and Ohio turnpike are just terrible. I have been on some rough roads before, but, those are the worst I have been on in my life (66 years old)
For what they charge in tolls, I paid $114 total round trip, you would think they would spend some of it on road surfacing. Sorry, just had to vent.

Highway across the Oklahoma Panhandle was so rough it shook our fillings loose and churned DWs heavy cream to butter. One would think that with all the oil and gas revenue, they could resurface that short stretch of road.

I do not think the Oklahoma panhandle has ever had good roads.

The panhandle is treated worse than a redheaded stepchild.

The roads are bad all over the USA. Last year when I went to Alaska all the curtains in my Cedar Creek fell some twice and that was before we got to Canada. It’s the heavy trucks that is destroying the highways. We need railroads. We need super rail beds to support faster trains.

On a recent journey from PA to NM; PA, IN, and MI were the worst. Thought OH was better than those. Did same trip 2 years ago, lots of construction, but roads were pretty good. Amazing how 2 winters can destroy newly paved roads.

You should try I 84 east! Just did that going to Rhinebeck. Had drawers open and empty themselves!

If you think the "Toll Roads" are Bad,use the "FREE Interstates" Youroo!! In our travels we have found the "State or US Roads" in Better shape than "Toll/Interstates" and Less Stressful!

Funny part is when I got off I84 in NY and took State highways and secondary roads, every thing was much smoother. Slower but a lot more relaxing ride!

I295 Richmond
I295 around Richmond VA. Many of the bridge transitions are so bad that unless your way under your max payload you'll hit the bump stops in your suspension. You can definitely bend or break some stuff. They're that bad. The road itself is OK, just the paving at the transition from road to bridge is offset a lot. Talk about going with the lowest bidder.

I try to plan going through Richmond on 95 rather then 295. If you hit at the right time, not too bad and not as jarring!

I-95 is just fine going through Richmond even in rush hour, much better highway I agree...

Yep! Run through there several times a year. Good over night is South 40. A little restaurant out front with good food!

sure, if you don't get lost and it also takes you twice as long on Amish cattle trails. But what a view and smell...

When we went to Goshen I took I76 to Akron Ohio and from there took back roads all the way in. Neat little towns to go through and not a lot of traffic. Stayed outside Akron and did Goshen in one day.

I don't ever get the opportunity to drive on a toll road, but I just hauled my trailer from Arizona to Alaska and the roads were in pretty good condition the entire way.
