rv battery connection

i took my battery out before winterization and when i put i back in i didnt take notice of the pos and neg cables, went to hook up thinking the red was neg and the white would b positive but when i do that it pops both my 30 amp fuses. could i have it reversed and the white is neg and red is positive??

Normally Red is positive and White is Neutral, so it is quite sure that you connected them backwards. Red positive is the way my RV is wired. If you want to be 100% sure, use a voltmeter (aka multimeter). Put the red lead on what you think is the positive post of the battery, and the white or black lead from the meter on the other post. If the reading has no negative sign in front of the voltage, then you have confirmed that the red lead is connected to the positive post.

The negative lead will be the one connected to the frame of the trailer, follow the white lead to confirm.....
