Then there are those that same to go camping has to be done in a tent not something on wheels............

Popcorn please......... Depending on where in the country.........
is it.......

Soda, pop, soft drink or a coke ????? (not to be confused with Coke)

Truck topper, shell, cap, cover or.......... ???????

RV, camper, trailer, motor coach, motor home.... is what we enjoy time away.

In Virginia there are no RV tags all of my trailers carry trailer tags (camper or cargo) just different weights............. Motor Homes have same type tags as cars.......... Pick ups carry car tags or truck tags depending of weight capacity.

No right or wrong answer here.........

Au contraire Mon Ami!

My truck is always a truck. Even when I get out of the 26 foot IH flatbed and into my exy, its still a truck. Plates say truck. Missouri says its a truck. I say its a truck. It has a actual frame and straight axles. its a truck.

the Rav4 is a car. Plated and titled as a car. Has no frame. Is just basically a corolla with a tall roof.

But the truest defining characteristic is... Will MamaBear drive it? She absolutely refuses to drive a truck at any time. Even if I cut my leg off and I needed her to take me to the hospital, she will not drive a truck. As far as I can remember, she has never even sat behind the wheel of Exy. But she drives the Rav4. Ergo, Exy=truck, Rav4=car.

An rv is any vehicle that you have recreation in. It's also proper to call any rv a rig. A diesel pusher is an rv, a gas bus is an rv, a 5-er is an rv, a trailer is an rv, a pop-up is an rv, an a frame is an rv, a conversion van is an rv. Some people split hairs about it, A rose is a rose is a rose.

Similar to the discussion - is it a trailer, mobile home or manufactured home.

I'll call my motor home a motor home if I'm feeling snobbish and I'm trying to put emphasis on the description, say to some jerk you meet at the in-laws lol! But most times I just refer to it as my RV or Camper or if going to get something in it I'll tell my DW I'm going out to the rig. Good buddy and BIL both have Jayco trailers and in conversations with them I'll use the same RV, Camper, or Rig verbage as talking about my "Rig"!!

In off-roading circles, I hear the term 'Junk' often, as well as 'Rig'.
I use 'Trailer,''Camper,' and 'RV' interchangeably. The wife, however thinks 'RV' just refers to motor homes.
I will use 'Rig' to refer to my tow rig (there I go) but usually only when the camper is attached.

You can call it A 'Shrubbery' for all I care. It's all good. [emoji4]

I've had many more RVs than I thought. It began in 1963 at age 15 when I purchased a 1955 Plymouth. I had a lot of recreation in that car and several other...

When I was younger anything towed was a camper, tent trailers were pop ups, and motor homes were referred to as winnebago's.

It has even crept into the everyday language it seems. I have told others we have a RV and spend time in Florida during the winter and I can tell by the way the conversation goes their assumption is we have a motor home??
So when did the term RV (recreational vehicle) come to mean motor home.... or does it still mean recreational vehicle, which includes everything on wheels basically?
I realize we "bumper pull" guys are kind of the red headed step children of the RV world just slightly ahead of A-frames and popups, but can't we sill say we are RVers?
My trailer is for RECREATIONAL use....it must be registered and tagged by the motor VEHICLE administration. Hence, it is a recreational vehicle in every sense. So my friend you have an RV...enjoy!!

You must be from the same generation as me because the terms you listed above are exactly what I grew up knowing, using and fully understanding! To this day, my friend of many decades corrects me if I refer to my TT as a camper. She believes it is a trailer, not a camper. It's all semantics!
