RV damaged in transit

Just got a call from our dealer. The RV we ordered in February (rockwood mini lite 2509s) was in but it was damaged in transit and the frame was bent near the hitch. They are sending it back to Forest River to see what they can do. Any thoughts on this? I don't want to take any repaired frame TT but also don't want to wait all camping season. Thinking of cancelling if it is going to take to long and wait until next year. Dealer has none of these models in stock. Any opinions?

I would NOT take it under any circmstance. Bent frame is serious and I would be worried about it failing in the future. I do think you can use this problem to get a significant discount on another trailer.

If it is near the hitch it may just be a matter of welding the A frame that goes back with a replacement. But honestly if you don't have to have it then I would wait. Not unless they want to discount it more. Once damaged it isn't new in my opinion.

0% chance I would accept a camper that needed frame repair. No. Chance.

Given the shoddy workmanship in this industry, do you really think they will fix it "right". They will do the bare minimum to cover up any visible signs of damage and send it out the door.

On my rig, the tongue looks like it was welded to the main frame when the frame was upside down. I would have my doubts they would fix this correctly. (A fab shop could, but we're not talking about that.)

Never know what other damage is there. Any twisting or tweaking that may have occurred... or any slight tweak still in place... might have panels cracked or about to. No wY to tell for sure.

I would run away from it.

nope, do not accept and verify the VIN of the damaged unit. The dealer may have it repaired and call you in a month and tell you they have a different trailer in just like the one you wanted. (same trailer, verify VIN)

My son had a similar 'unfixable' problem on a new FW he purchased 2 years ago.
The factory was able to find him another trailer at a dealer in a neighboring state.

Ask to see it to be sure he doesn't plan to sell to another customer paying a higher price. The ask him to find you another identical unit in a week or two. If not cancel the order. I would also call FR and ask them to locate another unit. Do not let your excitement cloud your good judgement.

Run.....dont walk away. You do not want that unit no matter even if it means you miss the entire season. Take that from someone that had the stones to tell the dealer and FR to stick it. FR will attempt to blow smoke about how they will make it right along with the dealer. Run away. FR wants to unload that unit probably more than the dealer does, and once the money changes hands they are holding the cards.

Cancel! Then hop on the internet and find another one. Might have to travel, might save some $$$ . Good luck.

If it hit or whatever hard enough to do that damage then consider what else it did that isn't readily apparent. I'm with the rest of these folks and would not accept it. If they truly can't find another then start over. Once you accept it you'll have to live with it. Unfortunate accident or incident but I'd sure not make it my problem.

Do not accept this unit under any circumstance. Frame damage is frame damage and is considered a major issue. This can actually make a trailer untradeable and unsellable.

Hopefully you will find another trailer at another dealer. Then you can hold the local dealer's feet to the fire to provide the warrantee work on it.

NO! Don't take this unit. Cancel and get your money back. In a quick search on a popular RV site, I find 80 of them for sale.

The same dealer that is saying it can be fixed good as new would not accept the repaired unit when it comes time for a trade saying that had sustained frame damage.

I would bet this damage will be tied to the title somehow.
