Some of the posts made good points such as Nascar. It would be obvious that there will be a lot of partying going on and assumed that noise is expected. We pick and choose where we go and often learn while at a campground whether or not we will return. There is a campground in Myrtle Beach that has a golf cart parade for about 3 hrs in the evening. We didn't like it and choose not to return. I'm respectful of what other campers are doing but when it's quiet time hours. Then it's quiet time and that should be respected. I've been on that end. We put up a big screen and watch movies at our site. Some campers in the next site complained. Management didn't have a problem with it but at the start of quiet hours I was asked to turn it off which we did. However, those that complained sat out for about 3 hours drinking and carrying on. We said nothing. Guess you just have to pick and choose your battles.

We were camping up in the Oregon high country one time;; in a state run campground, and an altercation between neighbors ended up in guns being involved. long story short, Sheriff got involved and a bunch of arrests were made. Thankfully I was on the lake with my two boys when it finally blew up as our site was right in between the involved parties.

We were in a Canyon,TX...one of those Yogi parks. I have to say their staff handled it really well, or really well to my standards. Really loud group of drunks, with teens, same old situation we all complain about. The Yogi staff came in, confronted the group about rules, etc. told them to leave or be escorted out by police. They left, we cheered.

Way back in the day when there was no such thing as a cell phone:

Our 1st camper was a Coleman pup. We stayed in a state park where the loops backed up to another loop. Behind us was a group of boys who basically were sleeping in their cars at their site. I guess they were trying to impress each other with their car stereos, all thru the night. As most of you know, a pup doesn't block any noise out, you hear everything. The first night we endured the noise. After returning to our site from a day at the waterpark, as I open the door of our van, I heard the music. Like I said about the cell phone, today I'd just call the office and complain. But there was no cell phone. So I drove to the park office and told them I had heard it all last night but I wasn't going to hear it tonight. Well, before I could get back to our site, the ranger had beaten me back and told them to turn it off or they were out of there. The ranger told me he would be patrolling throughout the night and if I had any more problems, just let them know.

Maybe that is what the OP should have done.

I did report it and management took care of it. That said the next night rather than make noise outside, the music was so loud in their RV I had trouble hearing my own TV. They left the next morning after letting their dog poop by the office without bothering to pick it up.

My late brother-in-law had this problem. We were all attending a family reunion at a State Park in western Colorado. We were parked across the road from my wife's sister and her husband. They were in a Winnebago and we were in a Shasta. Some people moved into the space next to sister-in-law's rig and were quiet. Until sundown. The park had 10:00 all quiet rules but that didn't matter. They started partying, drinking, loud music, loud laughter, you name it. Nothing would get them to shut up and no Rangers were available after 10:00. So the Blozo Brigade partied until 0400 then quit. So, in the morning, we all get up, brew coffee and about 10:00 am, the sister-in-law and husband fire up a generator to charge the battery (allowed). You had to be right up on it to hear anything it was so quiet. All hell broke loose in the Blozo Brigade Party Camp!!! They came out cursing, swearing, threatening body harm against my brother-in-law. Someone called the Ranger, who after hearing both sides, ticketed the Blozo Brigade and ordered them to leave immediately. Apparently, this was a common modus opperendi with these boobs and the Ranger knew them well. He told us later that they had been banned from other parks for the same activities and would be banned from that one as well.

This stuff definitely sucks. We have all been there but I think it is just the price we pay to camp with the public. Dealings with the public can occasionally be difficult.

Vin.

I camp at Ontario Provincial parks, can not see the neighbors through all the trees. In all my 40 plus years of camping never once had an issue at provincial parks. After May 24, our first long weekend, when iIwas a kid used to make a fortune collecting beer bottles though!

I have not heard that in more than 30 years. Awesome!
When they say choose your weapon, I am going to fire that up on the music box.

Maybe I should just play that over and over 24/7. Might not have neighbors...

This past 4th of July we thought we were about to have the neighbors from Hell.
We had been set up a few hours at a local lake. We were under our Sunseeker awning late afternoon enjoying a fashionable adult beverage, a very peaceful setting... then...... 3 trucks pull up in front of two sites facing our awning side of the coach. Somewhere between 8 and 40 young adults, kids and 4 very large dogs emerge in a cloud of dust. Within seconds there was a dog fight! This group appeared to be an extended family. When the screaming and dust cleared, there was blood everywhere on the dogs and the people and the little kids were running around like their nickers were ablaze. At this point this group had been in our presence for about 3 minutes. Next, was washing the blood off of everyone and a lot of hugging trying to get the young ladies to quit crying, then round two! One or more of the little kids stepped on a large red ant hill... the screaming and dust returned. After the bitten kids were put in the trucks, one of the men decided to have a beer and assess the situation. They were still parked in the road blocking any traffic. We refreshed our drinks and was wishing we had remembered the Valium.
The men left the ladies and kids to fend for themselves and after about 30 minutes they returned and they all disappeared. The best part was that the two sites still had the placards indicating the sites were taken for the weekend, so we ended up with no neighbors on that side for the next two days! It was a close call for sure.

I generally try to meet my closest few neighbors, and let them know we have small kids, if we get too loud to tell us and we'll try to quiet it down. And yes we do follow CG rules, if we bring our pets they are leashed, quiet time is quiet time, we are early risers, but if you kept me and kids up late past quiet time you betcha you waking up soon as quiet time is over, I have no problem firing my bike up at 6am or as soon as quiet time is over.

I find that staying at State Parks rules out most of the "neighbors from hell". In a much younger life, I was a rowdy young camper on one poorly thought out occasion, and after a quick visit from an armed park ranger explaining our options....we quickly became model campers. Now I'm "all grown up" I really appreciate a nice well run State Park campsite where respect for one's temporary neighbors seems to be the rule of the campgrounds.

Good to hear neighbors from hell can be transferred into good neighbors. Not everyone who ends up having the ranger or police called or gets kicked out of a campsite changes their behavior. Good for you and your campsite neighbors!

We camp with are dogs always and they go everywhere with us about 85% of the time. There are those places that they are not allowed and they stay in the air conditioned trailer. They are behaved, but if they hear loud noises they probably will bark. If it was a problem to surrounding campers I would want to be told.

I would not confront them especially if they are drinking. Could get out of control. Would simply slip out and report to the campground office. They would either refund you, and or offer to move you or ask them to leave the grounds.

I agree on getting out of control when they are drinking. Going to the campground office doesn't always pan out either. We went to a campground where 80% of the sites were seasonal. I paid an extra $20 per child ($80 total) for them to use all of the inflatables in the water. Kids that were seasonal campers would block the use of my kids from using them. Pulling the ladders up on the trampolines and sitting on the slides so nobody could get on them. Their parents looked on as they did it . They were drinking (the parents ) and got obnoxious when confronted. Took pictures and went to the office. Shrugged shoulders was answer I received and nothing done. Checked out and haven't returned.

Based on my experience, I prefer to avoid parks that are predominantly seasonals. More often than not, you feel like an outsider in their little community. Sometimes you don't know that's the situation before booking though and end up having to make the best of it. On the other hand, the seasonal occupants may not be around from Monday to Friday.
