Smile RV Sewer Hose Storage

I just purchased a 2014 Rockwood Mini-Lite and I'm replacing the used sewer hose. I bought a Thetford Tital 15' hose. What ideas does anyone have to store this hose NOT in the bumper. I've seen some tubes that can be attached to the undercarriage but looking for some sort of container instead. Your thoughts?

The bumper storage is the most common followed by the tube that you mentioned as well. I guess my question is why would you not want to utilize these spaces?

You need to ensure that it is not placed in a sealed container as you would not want mold growing on there. That's why the bumper is ideal and the bumper plugs have holes in them.

I guess I'm not sure the new hose will fit in the bumper. It has the elbow attachment that I don't thing will fit. I guess I'll need to wait to receive the new hose and check it out. I was just wondering what others my be doing instead of the bumper. Thanks for your quick reply.

That elbow attachment is removable.

I keep the slinky in the bumper and the elbow fittings along with rubber fitting(for sewer pipes that don't have threads, I've com across a few of those) in a gasketed Tupperware container in my storage bin. Thoroughly rinsed before putting them away of course. I had built and installed the rain gutter in the vinyl post cover but the bumper is still the most convenient place to store it. Bumper fits 3 compressed lengths which is like 30 feet of hose.

I have one of those orange and brown Rhino brand hoses in my bumper, it is a tight fit and a struggle to feed it in there. Not sure of the longevity of the hose due to the forced fit.

I will add to this discussion, if you put a cheap sewer hose in the bumper, it will rub holes in itself in a couple or three years!
Buy the high dollar hose, they last for years!

I added a Valtera adjustable hose carrier for my extra hose. It was a quick easy job to bolt it to my undercarriage.

THE TITAN DOES NOT FIT WELL IN MANY SPACES. I JUST PURCHASED THE 2 x 10 FOOT LENGTHS AND COULD STORE ONE ONLY IN MY PVC TUBE SET UP. THE SECTION I USE IS GOING TO HAVE TO BE CAPPED AND LEFT IN FULL LENGTH IN THE BOX OF MY TRUCK WHILE TRAVELLING.

another way is to purchase a section of PVC piping and cut it down to the width you need. again the 15 foot hose will not compress enough. 10 foot sits with a great deal of pressing into the tube. end caps and a threaded end X 1 generally will work with most hoses.

measure 3 times and cut once.

I have plenty of room in my Cedar Creek basement so I use a plastic container I brought from Walmart. Another plastic container holds my water hose. The two containers sit on top of each other. Works great

A big advantage is keeping the stink and contamination outside.

One more suggestion. A 2.5 gallon Hefty bag with a slider makes a great storage device for things like elbows. My PUP does not have a black tank flush, and when it's folded, you cant get inside. I have one of these backflush devices and it fits in the ziplock. I dedicated a small outside storage area to black and grey tank fittings, a 25' "dirty" hose for connecting to someone else's hose bib at a dump station, a box of nitrile gloves, and so on.

But I wouldn't consider putting the actual dump hose inside the rig or a tub or whatever. That undercarriage hose caddy is just what the doctor ordered. If you have a ton of hose, mount two of them.

It's not on my 15ft Camco Rhinoflex. But it clears the bumper. Its the tabs on the connectors that are tight.

Sewer Hose

No mater, the rust in bumper will ruin any hose. I use pvc drain pipe with holes half way around the length of it. A 3" X 4" adapter on both ends with hair pin type fasteners on both ends to keep hose in. Fastened under rig near dump valves, No smell.

After I dump, and flush hose, I just throw it in the bed of truck to 'air dry' on the ride home, then just store it in outside comp.

I have used a "rubbermaid" tote for my sewer hose since I got my first in 2016. I've never had a problem with odor in my TT since I store the tote in the pass through below the bed since the last thing I do is to rinse the sewer hose using my grey water hose (same one I use for black tank rinse). The tote holds two smaller sewer hoses with connections and the clear attachment so I can see that the tank is clear.
