RV Show

I hope the weather warms up next week for the RV & Camper Show in Belleville, IL. While many units are on display inside, many more are displayed outside. If there’s still snow on the ground it can be a sloppy mess. For those who are interested the show is Feb 21 - 23, 2014 at the Belle-Clair Fairgrounds and Expo Center.

Hmmm, If I'm not down at Goose Creek working on my cabin, I might just have to swing by there.

thanks Oak!

We went to the St. Louis RV show a few weeks ago, so we'll probably miss this one. The St Louis show cost me a lot of money!

LOL, I know how that goes. I should be safe at this show unless Larry's Trailer Sales bring a Durango 353RK. That model has the rear pass through storage that I'm fascinated with. Then my wallet might be in trouble.

We went to the RV show today and did not buy anything BUT I found new mods to do change current blinds to faux wood blinds, blue LED lighting for mood lights inside, LED lights ON the trailer under the awning. I was impressed with the quick disconnect LP connection on the side of the trailers for b-b-q's, campfires or what ever. (The DH says no don't need it) we'll see.

The local show for us has been costly the last two times we went. This year was a Coachmen Pursuit 31BDP motorhome.

Actually we are pretty much the same way, we love the current floor plan and features we have that my wallet should be safe. I'm glad we bought our Silverback when we did because they made some changes for 2014 that I couldn't live with in a trailer.

I just this past weekend went to a RV show here in Colo Spgs and it was lame. All the vendors were for home improvement and services for your home. Wait it was an RV show wasn't it? The Direct TV guy knew less then I did about putting a system in the R V. (See this months trailer life) I was disappointed as I wanted to see gadgets for the RV so I drove over to Camping World and loaded up! Next time I'll skip our RV show.

No experience with the show that you're talking about, but if you want to see a heck of a show, go to the PRVCA show in Hershey, PA in September. It'll blow your mind. I went there this year in a single day, and you really need 2 days to see everything.

We never fail to see something new or different at the RV show in Belleville, IL. This year it was some small trailers called Retro and manufactured by Riverside RV. Here are a couple of pics of the Retro.

The Model 155.

More than one floorplan we walked through had a fridge mounted so high that the freezer would have been next to useless for my five foot tall wife. Here’s a pic of a high mounted fridge in a Jayco fifth wheel. Notice how close to the ceiling the top of the fridge is.

I like the RV show in Belleville because many of these dealers aren’t at the St. Louis RV show. This year there seemed to be more travel trailers than years past, and many of those were fairly short trailers (22 feet and under). There were just a handful of motor homes at the show.

Not counting a small tear drop trailer, the cheapest trailers were in the $12,900 price range. The cheapest fifth wheel was a bunkhouse model by Palomino Puma at $25,900. We enjoyed the show but the Silverback we currently own fits our needs and wants so perfectly that nothing we saw tempted us.

We were there too, but not necessarily looking at rvs. We did find some accessories for our new 5th wheel.

Attended the Milwaukee area RV show today. We were struck by a few things:
  • 5th wheel campers come in huge sizes. Hard to believe some of these jumbo units can be pulled by a pick-up.
  • These are great days to buy an RV. They look great, fancy, and have features just like home. Plenty of storage and nice furniture.
We had fun.

I went to the the RV show in Fort Myers last month and the Rhode Island Show yesterday. Didn't buy anything. Just got a bag full of campground brochures. Some nice campers at the show. I really wanted to buy an R-Pod for the kids, but I quickly came to my senses

We didn't purchase anything either. Plenty of people at the show looking around but we didn't see many salespeople engaged in deep negotiations. Salespeople were mostly looking at their cell phones allowing customers to comfortably walk around and kick the tires.
